I have 14 characters, I've bought every single chapter, its been 6 days of doing jewellery crafting writs on every single character, some days a jewellery survey doesn't even drop, when it does drop and I do it, I can never seem to get this sea silver chain lead, What are the exact drop rates for this lead before I invest anymore time into this? I enjoy pvp, it's what I play the game for. Also I've done dragon star about 20 times and never gotten the lead for that, dragon star is a very long arena, one last thing the dark brotherhood lead that was a joke as well it's like I'm forced to endure content I really hate to enjoy content I do enjoy if spending hundreds of pounds on a game wasn't enough.

    I feel you.

I got that lead in about 3 surveys.

But I've done 25ish mage guild dailies with nothing :(

And yeh, I'm now starting on NA, and accepted that I won't have death dealer's fete. I can't put myself through DSA over and over again.

I'm all for a bit of a grind for leads. I just wish your chance would increase each time you fail. And then cap at like 50% or something.

For things like monster kills or nodes, it could be tiny, like a .5% increase per nod/enemy.

And then slightly larger for longer content. Like DSA, or Cradle of Shadows, Put it up 10% per fail.

Even if this went up and capped at 50%, eventually I'd have a straight 50/50 chance of getting it.

It'll still make people do old content, still might take a bit of time, but it's not a slog.

It's dumb how someone can do DSA, or Cradle of Shadows, or open a lock box ONCE, but someone else could spend 5,10,20 hours to get a lead.

before the drops were adjusted i did maelstrom arena about 70 times for inferno, also i did vateshran about 100 times on vet for the vate 2h and i still never got it. I play the game to have fun and unwind after working hard all day not to endure repetitive content over and over again, I love the game it needs massive adjustments though.

I appreciate how you'd like it to be immediate, I would too, but games don't really do well if you can get everything you want instantly. I'd say persevere, but honestly... find a way to not want this since you could be waiting 6 months (as some unlucky people on the forum have said about various content) and you're just going to make yourself feel awful for that time!!!!

MMOs do not function by 'giving a player everything they want immediately' since they'd run out of content too quickly. With the modern approach of 'google it' already shortening the life expectancy of RNG, are you prepared to pay a $500/month sub for the removal of RNG and a release of sufficient content to keep you playing? (that's $500/month only if the same number of people sub as do now - any reduction and you'd obviously need to increase that price to reflect it).

I'm not saying it isn't frustrating... but it's how MMOs work and the ONLY way they can work without people playing > finishing > leaving > game collapses.

your wrong, pvp hasn't had any updates in years, I haven't had anything I've wanted to happen with pvp since the imperial city update yet I still pvp, why would anybody pay 500$ a month on a game thats just stupid?

OP, I feel you, RNG is awful in this game, especially where leads are concerned. I don't do a lot of writs, hence don't get a lot of surveys, but when I do, I collect them promptly, so when the chapters dropped I didn't have any saved jewel survey and had to wait till I dropped more. Well, it took me about 7 surveys in 10 days to do this (a couple were rewarded from ToT coffers too), which may not sound bad, but if you think about the wotk you have to do with crafting writs on ,multiple toons, plus the layers of RNG involved in this (getting a survey in the first place, and then hoping the survey will drop the lead), it's a pretty player unfriendly design. At least they should have them drop guaranteed from the survey, so there's only one RNG level in dropping a survey. I think this is the only time-liming lead this patch, and it sucks because even if you were willing to put hours and hours to it, you can't it doesn't work via playstyle, but a time-gated RNG condition. The other leads were horrible to get as well, I spend about 7-8 hours in the Deadlands, doing the same loop killing watchers over and over again, and about 5-6 hours getting chessts in the public dungeon... Riveting gameplay that makes you want to pull your hair out. ZOS should give out therapy sessions whenever someone buys a chapter.

Ikr, I've played completely free games that had less grind and no rng to unlock everything gameplay affecting without paying. Here you pay first, then get experience worse than f2p.

I'm really lucky with the RNG in the "leads game" here - I got that Sea Silver Chain lead on three accounts both PC megaservers, four times on the first survey, once each on the second and fourth surveys. However, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be waiting a long time to even think about the Oakensoul Ring leads. I don't mind the leads that pop in surveys, resource nodes or writ rewards, but standing around safeboxes or looking for few and far between thieves troves is not my idea of fun gameplay!

I just stockpile surveys for everything, now that leads and endeavors are using them - I probably have close to 700 across my accounts. I do wish we could pass some around when people need them.

It's not really about getting things instantly. It's about RNG and how poor a system that is for rewards.

There are other ways. Guaranteed drops after "x" number of tries, be it content like dungeons, arenas, surveys, etc... but putting a limit on the number of tries per day is a better way because you can plan out how long it will take you, and you know that every try is not a waste of time as it is leading towards an endpoint.

Having leads tied to completing storyline quests, completing endeavors, PvP objectives. All these things could be guaranteed drops rather than RNG drops. The point is to make people play the game rather than stand in front of a water plant node, or lockbox node for days or weeks on end.

RNG is the worst, laziest reward scheme, and it does not need to be that way.

I'm all with you on this. I refuse to do the DSA lead because I actually enjoy having a life. There's a bizarre logic behind trapping leads in specific locations or after certain events (lats boss in DSA) that makes you lose interest in the game. There are NO BENEFITS to making our lives miserable.

Yea, I really wish they would change the way they handle lead drops.

The RNG is infuriating. I got the oakensoul ring together no problem, but still haven't gotten drops from Mazz or DSA for kilt or fete ring after all this time (and that is group content I can't do alone).

Just let us do whatever task it is and earn the drop automatically please. Make multiple future earnings RNG if you want, but we shouldn't have to do crap we don't wanna do a million times (and that we've done a million already) to earn something b/c it has a tiny drop rate.

What really annoys me is I don't have Greymoor on my main account and I don't have ESO plus, but I still get leads. All the time. This is really annoying. I don't want leads. It's the equivalent of having an advert for Sky TV everytime I tune into Freeview.

I'd happily donate all my unwanted leads to another player if I could.

There does need to be some better RNG protections in place around leads. A lot of the drop rates are just way too low.

RNG is most evil daedric prince. They enjoy torturing players in endless grind of Tartarus.
I don't do any heavy grind, because I don't want to start to hate this game, but I did several hundreds deadland dailies during several months without getting lead. So I am starting thinking, who should I sacrifice to pleas this fickle prince.

    PvP - Recruit.
    PvE - Dragon food
RPG - A guy who thought, that he can defeat daedric prince, yet guards still chase him off when he accidentally touches some object during daily writs.

Same here, I start mt day at 4:30am and usually home by 4/4:30 depending on traffic, love the game but I won't do the super repetitive stuff to get items. I get frustrated enough while on the RL job, this game has some serious unbalanced drops and when I start to get frustrated, I find something else to do, its just not worth it....its a game, but some people take to a whole another level, and that includes ZOS.

The Sea Silver Chain is the worst mythic lead I've ever had to farm.

Before High Isle I had 1 character and now I have an extra 10+ characters all level 7 and I don't care about any of them. The only reason I'm keeping them around is the off chance ZOS does this again for a different mythic.

Leads are just another way to add more grinding into the game for items that will be nerfed into worthlessness. It's almost as if people don't see it coming when it's 100% sure to happen.

I got the silver chain thing the other day. I was cleaning out surveys from my inventory and picked it up from jewelry node's in Wrothgar. I had to look up what it was as I wasn't actively searching for leads
