Been in a portal and killed close to 100 watchlings and no drop, is this lead even active?

I probably killed a thousand Watchlings before I got the drop, Watchlings only have a rare drop chance for loot at all, and the lead is rarer on top of that.

    It is, it does drop.

The unfortunate reality is that watchings generally don't drop any loot at all.

    Good luck!

i got my lead from first psijic portal in south elsweyr lol

got to love the RNG sometimes lol

i am still trying to get the watching lead, but my personal frustration is with the lead from daily writs/jewelry surveys

It dropped for me after a week of farming. Very cancerous rng. ZOS should adjust the drop rate like they did for Oakensoul :/

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Yeah, and surprisingly quickly too, I think it was my 4th chest.

The lower level has more chests per area I think, should try it there.

The strangest thing just happened: was camping that one lava pool in the Atoll of Immolation with several other players when one of those watchling portals just kept reappearing, spawning another watchling about once per second. Lasted for a minute or so.
Take a guess: Did I get the lead from one of those 50+ watchlings?
    No.

I'm giving up until they adjust the drop rate. If not even that glitch will get me the lead, farming it normally seems like a total waste of time.

There are 2 instance that you can port into, one of them will have some Dremora down by the lava at the first encounter. That`s where I got my lead from, there are spawning areas right before the portal boss that I camped at and no result.

I suspect its the glitch where if you kill something spawning from a portal before it is fully spawned it keeps respawning

Again there is 2 instances in the portal, one of them will have 2 pairs of Dremora. One pair on the left and one pair on the right , both are down by the lava. This area is at the beginning of the portal, I was at these spots for about 30 minutes and got the lead.

ive already spent about 8-10 hours total trying to farm the watchlings

even killing 4 mobs with a total of 8 watchlings, its rare to get a drop from 1 of them on each spawning (the approx rate i could tell was 1 drop per 10 watchlings, then you have to pray to RNGesus that it has the lead too)
