Forum Suggestion: Would it be possible to add to the reactions?

I know there is a desire for positivity in the forums but sometimes we don't agree with what is being said. I think there should be other reactions along with "inspired," "agree," and "Awesome."

Perhaps "Disagree" or "Maybe" or some other reaction would allows us to express we have an opposing view without actually having to type out "I disagree" as a response. Thoughts?

Not having a disagree button (of any kind) allows for healthy discussions about topics, so in my opinion a disagree button should not be added. If players disagree with something, they should explain why. Same reason why someone who suggests something should explain why.

This came up not long ago. IIRC the general consensus was "not a good idea".

Yeah, I highly doubt they will ever add a disagree button in. Forcing players to disagree through comment forces them to actually engage in conversation. Forums with disagrees or downvotes are absolute cesspits, where the only thing ever said in a comment is positive.

But also, if all that you have to contribute to a discussion is I disagree, sometimes it is just as effective to find a disagreeing comment that aligns with yours and Agree with that. Or, actually defend your disagreement if you cannot find someone who has already done so.

I bring this up because of the last ... uh "discussion" ... the community had.

To have only "agree" choices is not really a choice and there are times when I personally would like to know a post is read and someone actually is reacting to it even if they disagree. Not everyone explains why the agree or think its awesome or feel its inspired.

Giving a balanced choice in reactions should be ok.

Personally, I think that a disagree reaction would be too easy for people to abuse. It would allow people to troll others, or to start hate trains on commentors who disagree with well connected people. It's more constructive for people to explain why they disagree with something.

There used to be one iirc.
But yeah, it's not a very constructive feature, there could be a million reason why you'd disagree, none of which are clearly conveyed through a 'disagree' button.

Yes, think it was removed as people used it as an disagree button. Pretty obvious then its not funny, say asking for nerfs and you got a lot of LOL.
On the other hand i would pile up with the other LOL so you never know how some could have so many LOL.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Yep. There were instances of posters who chronically disagreed about everything searching for each others posts in every thread just to click "disagree" or "lol"; trolling and disrupting the forums. Not really a fan of a button that allows you to say "I don't like what you said, but I don't really want to explain why, so there. You're just wrong."

I think it can discourage people from asking questions (especially newer or returning players) for fear of getting bombarded with negative responses without knowing why people are reacting that way.

If a post is well out of line, then there is the report function to have it looked at by moderators, otherwise if it's a valid post, then outlining why you disagree, instead of just hammering someone with downvotes, seems fair and reasonable

    No, this is the internet.

Look at Reddit, and the bands of people who use downvoting to troll, ridicule, and vaporize someone's contribution purely for recreation.

They had reactions here at one time that expressed disfavor. It was severely abused, and removed. The closest to it now can be Insightful, as some people use it as deep sarcasm.

This was abused before, and shouldn't be allowed again in my view. Anyone who has an opinion on a topic whether it's positive or negative is entitled to make a comment explaining that opinion, and that's the best way for discussion forums to operate.

This one remembers the dark dayz of LOL reaction. Many a serious post was LOL'd into oblivion, leaving many people very upset. They were not comedians nor had any desire to bring LOL to a forum. It was a dark time an many sad face emojis could not describe the onslaught of torture endured by those of this charming community.... :frowning:

Yeah. Reddit sucks when you disagree with the groups. And it's even worse with that Reddit cares bot where if enough people disagree with you, someone feels emboldened to pretend you're mentally unwell. I've seen it done on the Bachelor subreddit because someone liked a contestant the group didn't like. It's that ridiculous.

A disagree does nothing but create an echo chamber at best, and is used to malicious trolling at worse.

Definitely not. This place is difficult enough to comment in as it is without giving everyone a disagree button.

Well.... considering the thread you're most interested in, I'm pretty sure your "interest" is very specific, and very targeted. So - yeah. Nope.

This thread pops out more or less once a month.

While the idea would not be bad itself, it will be misused to silence people, harass them, and just make weirdos feel even more martyr than they already feel.

Its not gonna add anything else than troubles. If you dont like or disagree just write it or ignore and go on with your life, there's no need for a button.

You already have a way to edit your post: refresh the page, and you will see a gear icon next to the post number. Click that, there's a dropdown with the word "Edit". Click that, edit away.

To edit the first post of a thread you created, you'll see the edit icon next to the thread title IIRC.

hmm maybe then add edits to page itself.. change background add own background and other changes would be cool like page for people to place there picture of there character in the game..
i think be cool for people show off and maybe in game have something like a post card to show off character,,
maybe to add people when offline also.. if there is a thing for this all good also ..
it be cool to show how many friends people have but then be like meh book lol ..
but i think changing the looks the page to the person when making the post and making look cool be cool in its own way ,. like colors backgrounds also other like make easier to find poll.. and others.. so people can choose but some don't know about pulldown bar,, so ..
    yep this be cool

No thanks. This forum works fast, loads fast because all that garbage isn't included here thankfully. Though I do wish ZOS would use better forum software - like phpBB3.
