Ok, so context.

I finally try to actually find a match using the activity finder.
Get into a match, everything's going smoothly.
A few rounds in, get a loading screen for some reason.
Out of the loading screen and I get hit with a deserter penalty.
Try again afterwards, another loading screen, and another penalty.
Third time's the charm, didn't even get into the match and still hit with another deserter penalty.

FFS, I was already skeptical about the whole card game as the new chapter's new system, but this kind of BS is just ridiculous.
I'll keep trying a little while longer solely for the reason that there's a new dye locked behind an achievement.
OK, rant over.

Well this sounds like fun. My enthusiasm for this patch is low.

There's probably an instance limit, don't do it during primetime and don't play against players just NPCs for the first few weeks as there are people who played during the PTS that are stomping all newbs that think they're getting a fair match.

Don't play during prime time because you will crash? And don't play against actual other players in an MMO because it causes crashing?

Sounds like ZOS has a lot of work to do on the server and coding end for sure.

If the rest of the game is known for it’s bugs, crashes, and performance issues, then it’s not really reasonable to expect a new part of the game to not follow suit.

Play Ranked, there is better matchmaking there. Queueing for casual opens you up to be matched with anyone including the aforementioned veterans.

E: To add, typically the only people who seem to play casuals are the completely new who think it's a good way to get their feet wet or the Rubedite tier players who don't want to risk losing a match and dropping down the leaderboard.

Also, playing the Novice AI won't do much beyond let you get familiar with the starting cards. They play a very rigid manner, actively handicap themselves for the first few turns, have no strategy at all and don't use patrons. If you play novice AI for weeks, your first real match will be way worse than playing now when most are still learning.

I really really don't like the fact that you can't resign if you're clearly losing a match and have no way to come back to win, without getting hit with a penalty.

All this does is encourage people to just time out which is more annoying.

I think you can resign without a penalty after certain turns or time passed. It is a intentional game design to give players penalty if they resign so early because you get reward either way.

At what point is that though?

I had 1 loadscreen on I think day 1 or 2 of the patch. Otherwise no issues (with the cardgame). :)

I've played to Rank 4 and hit leaderboards without having a disconnect, loading screen interruption, or a deserter penalty. Not once.

I've heard about some people having issues, but what happened to you sounds like it's far from the norm. Hopefully they improve stability across the board, but I wouldn't doom-and-gloom about the whole system being nonfunctional.

There should also be a way to re-connect to a match when you're hit with a loading screen, disconnect, or whatever.

Sorry this has happened too you, i have not seen this happen or heard of anyone having it happen, how is your ping normally while playing? Do you play with higher than average ping all the time? Sounds like a latency issue and a timeout.

    Tried playing some games.

The game just plain doesn't make sense to me. It's all a mess of no idea what I'm supposed to do.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Oh no, I've figured out what was going on. Don't get me wrong, the new system is still really buggy, what with the ranking and achievements not counting. Not to mention all the other bugs this patch.

Anyways, when I queued for the first couple matches I was standing around the Skywatch wayshrine, and that specific area seems to always have periodic loading screens pop up. And those loading screens will cause issues. That's at least one problem solved for me, now its the tribute and High Isle dailies now counting towards the achievement, or the daily quest not progressing.

While I have not experienced OP's issues yet, I have found the new card game to be tedious at best and not particularly enjoyable compared to other games I play or have played, like Hearthstone or ES: Legends.

The tutorial is poorly executed and does not explain things such as what Agent cards do, how the Treasury works, that you can only use one Patron per turn in most cases, or how mechanics such as Toss, Taunt, or Combo work, or how they are different than similarly named mechanics in other TCG's.

The penalty for conceding / resigning runs contrary to a strategy used with ladder play in TCG's, namely, recognizing when you are outmatched / likely to lose, so that you can get that match over with and move on to the next match. For instance, if I know that i'm playing with a deck that's going to win 65% of my matches, it's advantageous to "lose quickly" because the more matches I play, the more I will win. This also helps your opponent by letting them get more matches in as well.

    Just a couple of thoughts.
