High Isle: Lava Lasher achievement

I have done a few Volcanic Vents by now and I am still at 0/30 on this achievement : Seal 30 Lava Vents in High Isle.

I killed waves of enemies exiting the rifts till the NPC used her green light on it, I stood in lava pools expecting a synergy or something... There's a lot going on in a short time and this achievement is seriously confusing. What the hell do you have to do?

there are 2 types of vents, lava vents are the "small" ones (not marked on the map), and volcanic vents are the "large" ones (marked on the map)

So I assume that once someone interacted with one, there's a long CD like the Ayleid wells in Blackwood.

I had thought about these, killed the mobs around but there was no interaction, nothing.

There is no post-interaction. They're the analogy to the small daedric incursions that occur randomly in base-game zones, instead of the full-fledged dolmen

Edit: I have gotten a half-dozen of them, and they're counting towards my achievement.

Some people like to get all the Achievements. Some Achievements give you Dyes or Outfits.

So if you don't care about any of those, then Achievements have no point.

I'm in the same boat - fought lava-ey things near lavaey ground, or by lavaey pyres that look like small versions of the big pyre in the volcanic vent... but no idea if what I'm fighting at is a "lava vent" or not, nothing happens when I approach, I just kill whatever's standing there.

Nothing else appears, and the achievement doesn't increment.

You need to look for the small lava pools (well if it was close there's no lava though). Example : use the wayshrine that allows access to the Amenos Basin world boss. When heading south toward the WB, you'll quickly see one of these pools. Fight the waves, success.

The lava vents are flat, and there will be a couple waves of enemies after you kill the ones standing around it, usually ending with a vulk'esh adult. Once you kill that, the lava disappears and you'll only see embers. Sometimes you'll see a small hill type lava-spewing fissure with enemies standing by it - those aren't vents and don't count, they're just landscape features.

It can be a bit confusing, to be sure.

Can you do the same lava vent more than once? Does anyone have a map of where they are (can't find one)?

Only one lava vent comes up at a time. You can find them as light brown spots on the map when zoomed in

Oh, I didn't know that! But can you do a particular lava vent twice? I'm thinking of the achievement. Do I need to find 30 different ones?

You need to defeat 30 of them. It isn't restricted to one point per vent. It's one point per vent defeated. So yes, it doesn't mattter which ones you do

I'm at 28 of 30. I try to swing by one whenever I'm close, but as others have said, they're not active very often. I have done the same ones multiple times.
