Tower full of troubles quest (Ember companion quest line) buggy?

I can't get through this quest line.

The first time, I followed ember after completing the ritual, and she simply stopped on a ledge and did nothing. I was supposed to follow her, but she wasn't moving and just stood there with a quest arrow over her head. I couldn't interact with her. I logged out for fifteen minutes and logged back in, and she was invisible. I could hear her voice telling me to follow her, but I couldn't see her.

I abandoned the quest and re-started it at that point. This time, it is bugging at the earlier step where you enter the ritual circle. She tells you to light the braziers while she finishes casting, but the braziers are not interactable this time.

I am playing on windows 11 home edition 64 bit. My video card is an NVIDIA GeForce 1070Ti.

Computer specs are:

Intel Core i7-8700k @3.70 GHz, 32 GB of RAM

I was able to get the arrows to appear over the ritual flames by leaving the circle and returning. But we are stuck at the next step again.

Followed Ember to here and are waiting for spell to go off. She did a little jump and cheer, but now is just standing here. Nothing is happening, and I can't speak to her.

I got it to work today. This was the third time I dropped and restarted it.

The only difference this time was I ignored the wind spirit in the middle of the circle when I lit the sconces. I have no idea if that made a difference or not. Are we not supposed to kill it? Lighting the sconces doesn't make her aggro anyway.

I also encountered a bug in this questline. The piggy cook was running around until she stopped on a small bridge but I couldnt interact with her. I relogged my character and everything worked that time. No need to abandon the quest.

I did not get as far as others it seems. I could not restore all of the livestock, only 1 out of 2, and 3 out of 4. The spoon would not appear for the last of each restorations. Logged out and in, signed on and off, and shut down and restarted my Windows 10 desktop. So unable to get Ember's quest completed.

@Roxxsmom ZoS have confirmed that they are working on a fix for this bug (no ETA yet), as mentioned in this thread:
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/7616469/#Comment_7616469.

There are several suggestions for ways to avoid it bugging out, although I don't know if any are reliable.

@buzzsaw67 The "animals" go off in different directions, and sometimes it is just hard to find them. Worth trying again, or asking for help from others in the area.

I think I figured the bug out. There was at least one other player trying to restore the critters at the same time I was. Somehow I ended up with 3 of one and one of the other. So there were 3 "sheep" npcs standing around, one with an arrow over him. They had human posture already and they were no longer in need of restoration - though there was some bleating going on. There were no cows available anywhere. Since I was now credited with 4 changes, no more were possible. I later deleted the quest and did it over making sure I only transformed 2 of each without any other quest-confusing player interaction. It worked as it should have but is obviously buggy. Beware.

    Very, very annoying.

Seems like this should have been caught in playtesting. Did it happen on the PTR?

I did see that there were some bugs reported on the PTR. When I first encountered it, I did a search, and the PTR thread popped up. Stupidly, I posted on it before I noticed that the report was from months ago and not in the regular game forum :s

I thought I was the only player encountering it in the post release game until I came over here to scan the forum bug reports directly. Annoying how google doesn't default to producing the most recent results unless you do a time restricted search (and even then sometimes it doesn't).

I have no expertise in game design or coding, so I can only guess that some of these things are more challenging than others to ferret out or replicate. I recall another broken mechanic in a different game I play. After back and forth with developers and sending them game files, they finally were able to replicate it and fix it in a patch, but it appeared to be something only a couple of other players encountered.

I sometimes run into issues no one else has ever reported in games (at least as per google searches), so I must have a talent for "breaking" things in ways no one else ever has. I suppose I should spend time on the PTR...

I have been successful (a few times at least) running it doing the sheep first, then the cows, not the other order, which I tried first.

That may or may not be the key.

Interesting. I don't recall which order I did them in each time I attempted the quest and failed vs finally succeeding.

I've done it since with a different character, and it worked just fine. They may have patched it since, though. I hope folks still aren't having issues with it.

I ran into this one once too, but relogging fixed it for me too.

Reupping this because I'm stuck with an unresponsive sheep.

Was crouching until I logged out and back in. Is standing now. Unresponsive either way.

This happened to me today on XBox. 3 Enchanted Sheep NPCs and no prompt to restore them.

This is still a bug. Pathetic QA/bug-testing going on for years now with no fixes.

Another reason I gave up my ESO+ and haven't played for months.

I found the issue. The spoon of undo location for the guar is on the nearby bridge! Not anywhere near the guar.
