2 free but 3 to pay for

The new 'armor system' only allows you to have 2 free slots...the rest are up for crown grabs...as if we haven't spent enough... The new should have had 4 free slots: a healer, tank, pve dps and pvp dps at least. Many ppl are super inclusive of ALL styles. I think 4 should be the bare minimum considering all the b.s, especially for pvpers, had to endure. The new armoror system has been LONG overdue, soooooo many Veterans since beta playing even, and they didn't even get automatic sets for Main Zones included....all the grinding for PVE trialers, and they didn't get ALL the trial gears current despite running 100 thousand times. It isn't much to ask for a bit more here and there Zos. It really isn't. People will come back more if you show such appreciation. Please, show more appreciation of your players...especially those that were there since Beta (which I was not one of them alas).

These shouldn't be a Crown cost at all. Thus I have not even touched them.

And they should not be per-character even if they do cost Crowns.

    Both are VERY annoying!

I can absolutely agree with that! In game costs, especially considering VETERAN status should be noted! I am just trying to appeal to the money grubbing and high archy.

Even if they wanted to stick to 2 free slots, I think they made the wrong choice by making extra slots per character.

Both from a player perspective and from a money perspective.

No player wants to buy an extra 2 or 3 per character. I don't know many people that have bought them.

If they made them account wide, I think they'd sell more. I'd buy 2 or 3 for sure if they were account wide. And I know a lot of people I speak to would as well.

Since I have 3 of every class: a Hybrid (former tanks), Stamina, and Magicka; it doesn't bother me too much with two slots. I currently use the bottom slot as my soft reset where I only have points in the passive skills in case I want to do an overhaul without having to needlessly refill those same passives over and over. The top slot is used for whatever current build I'm on with the most essential of active skills only.

I can play around with new abilities and morphs, then go equip my top slot if I don't like the way it went or equip my soft reset to change out the weapon combos and level new skills I haven't done already.

I think the fact someone thinks 'pve and pvp dps only' is why any number is not the correct number.

Focusing on the issue of them being per character, it definitely feels as though the game fails to understand how people play alts. Very few people will pay for alts to have things their main does not - so if your main needs 3 slots but your alt needs 4, you'd only buy the slots for your main and then... let your alt go!

I purchased a single slot for my main so I have trial tank, tank and stamdps. While another one for pvp tank and pvp dps and then a healer and maybe a magdps would be enjoyable, I don't participate in those situations enough to justify it.

People will pay for convenience, but they need to see a reason to pay for it. And with it being per diem, it's not worth paying for the option!

The limit on slots hasn't really been a factor for me. Same as the outfit slots. Even if I was into changing my role periodically, I would just reuse my two available slots. I bought a couple extra on my main (tank) back when it was first introduced and have never really made use of them.

My "standard" slots have been swapping between vampire and not-vampire. But on my main I have one PvP vampire and one PvE without vampirism and one DD spec that I have never bothered to use. The biggest issue I had with it in its original iteration was that it didn't save the mundus stone.

ZOS had to draw the line somewhere and still find a way to make money. I consider 2 free slots quite acceptable. You do not. The line is between those two conflicting viewpoints. ZOS cannot please everyone. For example, some people consider ESO Plus unacceptable and manage their inventory accordingly. It's not an impossible task, but it is one made much easier with Plus. Same thing applies to the armory slots. One can manage with two, or they can buy additional.

This is a poor reason. Providing what could be a useful feature and making it a cash grab is not required "to make money".

Making it cost so much makes it useless for most and thus really wastes the time spent providing the feature.

I haven't touched the system at all. The slots costing crowns and being per character only is the biggest reason why.

Sorry, but if the argument is "they should be free because I need them", what stops you from throwing that argument at anything in the crown store? Character slots, outfit slots, riding lessons, mundus stones, etc...

Having two options (PvE vs PvP, Trials vs Solo, etc) is a nice bonus that they added. The only part I'd label 'greedy' (well, more like 'that was stupid, marketing guys'), is that additional slots are per character, rather than account-wide.

100% agreed. Should have been account-wide. Would probably even be a more attractice option for people to invest in.

But this is a convenience that they didn't need to give us at all. I'm happy they did. That's not to say they are right or wrong in how they did it. They could have kept us using respec shrines (made for a good gold sink, too, something a lot of people blame the rampant inflation on is a lack of gold sinks; I was personally spending around 250k gold a week not too long ago respeccing my end game PvE raiding tank to PvP and back, along with the hassle of getting or curing vampirism (plus going through the vampire quest repeatedly)). I'm content with the two free slots we get as standard. Others might not be, but the option to get more exists if one "needs" them.

Yes, it's part of the base game and was part of update 32. In the crown store, search for "Armory Station" under special furniture to claim it and then you can put it in your house. It allows you to save 2 builds for free, that you can swap between.

That is a false argument and is not what is being said.

Providing a new "feature" that costs a huge amount to have makes that "feature" worthless to most without deep pockets.

Should they hide delves behind Crown Store purchases, per character? That would fit the same logic.

They can do what they want of course, they just made a useful feature lack significant value with how they chose to offer it. That is the point!

I use the Armory a lot and even bought the assistant. It’s great if you’re on console and have to switch gear manually, in the inventory, one piece at a time several times a day.

Since I already have 4 alts, I am completely happy with 2 slots. The only one who really needs to swap gear is my main.

Generally we (on console) are pretty happy with whatever scraps are thrown our way, doing without for so long.

They are pushing this “one character to rule them all” setup with the armory but I suspect that is aimed at newer players.

EDIT: sorry, can’t do basic math lol

When I compare how often I respeced in the past, I'm saving about 100k a month due to the armory. This is basically due to my own rule, that every character of mine should be able to care for him/herself after an initial phase. That means as well that they need more skill points in average than if I would have specialists - but I want all-rounder. They coop in an economical way and share gear, but otherwise they are self-sufficient - that caused quite a lot of very frequent respecs.

I have one toon with 3 builds and the only reason they have three is a friend was desperate for gold and I took pity on him- there was nothing else I wanted.

I guess some classes can do it all but as a sorc main I don't think I can respectably tank or heal anything and that doesn't bother me really. I have other toons who were built for those jobs.
