Maintenance for the week of March 3:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – March 3
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – March 4, 6:00AM EST (11:00 UTC) - 4:00PM EST (21:00 UTC)
• NA megaservers for maintenance – March 5, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 11:00AM EST (16:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – March 5, 9:00 UTC (4:00AM EST) - 16:00 UTC (11:00AM EST)

I think we need an API that would expose anonymized aggregate stats about the marketplace

These guild price aggregators that rely on self reported numbers appear to me to be very unreliable and subject to gaming by the self reporters.

Sorry could you explain what you mean more?
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

Sure. An API is like an address on the internet that you can connect to to read data in a database-agnostic format (typically XML-Based). By publishing, as APIs, rollups of mean, median, max, min, and standard deviations of prices for items on sale at guild stores, community developers, or ZOS for that matter could provide 3rd party apps that allow traders to see real market data to help us better price items we are putting up for sale. In fact, MS Excel can connect to many API formats directly.

I feel like I should mention that my description of what APIs are is a very narrow interpretation specifically targeted at my post.

I am specifically referring to a type of API called a WebAPI-and I'm speaking in very narrow terms relative to the full capabilities of the technology.

It's really cool stuff that data guys like to geek out on!

Master merchant or ATT gives you raw data from your guilds. It tells you what sold

Thing though is prices are correct...If I could back into past before they nerfed wax farming in rift. I would be rich...wax was only 3 k back then....now it's about 30k

Are those add ons? As a console jockey I don't get to use add ons, though that is another thing I wish Zeni would add!

The cool thing about an API is that depending on what data they exposed, you could do some more advanced analytics like correlating prices with events for example or prices with day of week. It's limited only to your imagination and you don't have to be a developer to use it.

Yeah, on PC there's a mix of addons like Master Merchant, Arkadius Trading Tools, Tamriel Trade Centre that do this. The TTC website acts as a global trading search, ATT/MM have data and graphs limited to data from the guilds you are in IIRC.

There is a price history website that uses TTC historical data too.

An API would help bring the TTC functionality to consoles too I imagine, since TTC currently works by running a client program that maintains a price table and syncs to its server.

There are certain sites that maintain price history on XBox, I believe they rely on self-reporting to update the price history
