I bought some Essence of Health potions from a guild vendor exactly 2 months ago, and just noticed that 2 of its attributes have been nerfed:
- restore x health immediately
- restore y health / sec for z secs
Without going into any details on what potion it was or who sold it, both x and y are about 92% of their previous value.

Has anyone noticed a potion being nerfed like this before, any idea what could cause it?

They're CP150, with message "Scales from 150 to 160", whatever that means, I'm a bit ignorant there. Perhaps someone can point me to the relevant information, so I can educate myself?

It might be worth noting that health restoration in potion tooltip is affected by any bonuses that increase your healing done/taken.

    For example,
This is the tooltip on a health potion on one of my tanks,

This the tooltip on the same potion when my tank has Major Mending active (which increases healing done by 16%),

The main thing to understand is that there is no such thing as 'Essence of Health potion'. It's a fake title designed to confuse you.
The second thing to appreciate is that someone sending you to the unofficial wiki hasn't read it, because the wiki can't even be bothered to update itself to show Major Recovery is 30%, not 20% these days.

The name of a potion is based upon the strength and a single characteristic of the potion. So you can have an Essence of Health potion with 1, 2 or 3 properties without realising it by reading the name only.

On top of this, the game can drop potions with the same name to make it even more confusing:

    1) I have a potion dropped from random content that restores 6684 health immediately, and grants Major Fortitude for 28.7 seconds (I have passives affecting this so dont fixate on the length)
    2) I crafted a potion at the alchemy crafter that restores 8369 health immediately, and grants Major Fortitude for 47.6 seconds. It also grants 7582 Stamina, with the subsequent 47.6 seconds of Major Endurance.

Both of these are named Essence of Health and both scale cp 150 to 160 - the difference is one is a world drop and the other is a crafted item.

Thanks for the replies, people. I'll recheck my various skill sets (I use Dressing Room addon to manage different ones), and work out which one gives which values for the potion. From what you said, I'm guessing one of these skill sets had different buffs on it affecting what I saw in the potion's properties.

In fact, I already knew the skill sets each gave different values to my character's properties, e.g. max health, damage, penetration, etc., and I just didn't realise it would also affect any potions I held. I live and learn. :)

Yes it probably took most of us years to realize the passive Healing buffs were why these values changed.

I'm sure you've noticed that if you make a tripot with Mountain Flower the Major Fortitude lasts a few seconds longer than with Dragonthorn, that's another detail easily missed that might confuse a player and which will prevent the two different tripots from stacking.

Thank you, that's a very interesting insight. I would have never realized that a slight ingredient change produces the same named potion, but with different properties.

This is VERY interesting! I did some more investigation. I have 2 slightly different versions of a lightning staff, because I wanted to be able to use it on the main and alt bars, and I found that switching between the 2 causes the difference in health potion I mentioned above! LOL

Anyway, I've renamed the thread to something more appropriate.
MODS: would you mind moving this thread to the Players Helping Players section, whenever you have a chance? Thanks!
