Disease changes

Major defile: Major defile now causes an infectious aura around the target that deals minor disease damage around and to the target for 4 seconds. (visible as green mist). This damage will increase by 50% if they are within a 3m range of someone infected with minor defile.

Non-infected targets within the aoe that take damage from Major defile have a chance to be infected with Minor defile.

Minor defile: When infected the target will take minor damage over 4 seconds, this damage will increase by 50% if they are within a 3m range of someone infected with major defile.

Those infected with Minor defile can not infect new targets.

Change Notes
Over the years, recent changes to the statuses and their effects have been going in the right direction. There has been more focus on combat and balance changes to ensure effects and skills are useful in all content. However, currently disease and its status effect have not been keeping up with the other statuses. This is especially true in PVE content. The hope is that this change will add some diversity in all content while making disease more viable for those that choose to use it.

While for now this change is primarily for disease damage that can proc the major and minor defile, other diseases in game that have their own effects wouldn't be changed at this time.

    Uhhhh.

Defile may not have huge importance in PvE but in PvP is really important in lowering healing potential of other players.

Removing that aspect would not be good. There's a lot of Statuses that are good in both PvE and PvP, it's ok if some are more focused in one or the other.

i feel like diseased should probably have a DoT portion or maybe just deal more dmg since it's effect is effectively useless in pve.

I'm fine if disease itself got a bit of a change like that, but gutting Defile would be a no go for me.

yeah it should keep defile, that part shouldn't change, but i think it should get similar or the same treatment that hemo got.

The inspiration is a status effect in game called "Wretched Pollution" which is a disease themed effect. Keeping the healing debuff definely makes sense. I like to let other posters make that argument then sound like im reaching in a suggestion. But id love to see an addition similar to how bleed and frost got.

it's too much to be on the status effect itself, would need to be a monster set or something. status effects are very simple. they're a pure DoT or they're damage+ a minor effect or 2.

Thank you all for your input. It's gratifying to see our suggestions implemented in Update 41. Though it took two years, for those of us still invested in the game, it's a welcome development.
