I know its still a little early, and who knows if the performance will hold, but if it does, Cyrodiil will be in such a good state going forward. Played all night in Grey Host last night with my guildies. We usually do BGs and IC exclusively because we hated the lag, but we had so much fun in Cyrodiil last night. Combos working in huge fights where the only limiting factor is framerate, not server lag. If the performance holds, PvP is going to be in a much healthier state moving forward. So from a jaded PvPer who, until this week, thought Cyrodiil was a terrible experience, thank you.

Yes, please figure out what changes were made to the new server build that improved PvP performance. It's running better than it has is half a decade.
I fear a regression of performance in the next patch if the technical team doesn't know why the game is running this well.

I think that it's pretty obvious what made it better, new hardware lol. Even though they said it wouldn't fix it, it's probably not a coincidence that getting new hardware made cyrodiil entirely functional.

Cyrodiil is running better, but not that much better. "Entirely functional" is not at all an accurate description of how cyrodiil plays after the server rework.

Skills not firing and bar swapping is still a major issue during larger battles. And disconnecting issues are actually more frequent now after the server rework.

Time will tell. It's too early to be singing praise.

Once they get to a situation where they can bring the population caps and group size caps back up at least a little closer to what they once were then we can talk about better performance. Until then, they are just doing the bare minimum maintenance to keep the game running.

i would also agree "entirely functional" is not quite there yet

but for me the performance has been vastly improved compared to what it was before the hardware upgrade, even during big fights i still only see like 120-130 ping instead of 400+

i have still noticed other issues: sound loops when theres 20 siege hitting, and the lower population caps are still an issue, but some of this might not be resolved until they complete the code rearchitecture portion

hardware can only take bad software so far lol

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

But he still has a point. The fact that they said the new and improved computer hardware would not change performance that much goes to show that they may not know as much about computer tech as much as you would think. I mean of course a better and newer running server will improve performance, from almost a decade old mega servers?

EXACTLY I have been saying for years that the latest hardware can NOT fix software issues but INADEQUATE hardware will create many issues of its own. And any good hardware guys would have been able to determine if the hardware was causing the bottlenecks. My only guess is that ZOS has good developers but didn't have the right hardware guys. Or even outsourced the hardware to consultants then didn't allow them to come back and maintain the systems. I do IT infrastructure for a living and we always put our client on a 3-5 year hardware refresh cycle, while Monitoring and maintaining it the whole time. But some companies just want us to set it up then leave and think they can manage it themselves, some can some can't.
