I think I would love a future expansion were they end the three banners War and make a instance PVE cyrodiil Zone with all the cities fully flushed out and where we can explore and not get killed. They can still have the PVP Zone but have a year of the Imperials.

Mara's mercy, i love Imperial City. I LOVE Imperial City. End of the war doesn't sound likely, everything happens simultaneously in ESO.. Unless of cource Dragon Break occures and some sorta alternative timeline happens, where Soulbirst never was and Emperor Aquilarios brings justice and prosperity to his domain?.. Hm, how do you sell this to casual players... Bah, of cource! Write DRAGON break in the trailer!
I hope i dont sound sarcastic. I'd really love that.

Everything happens at the same time in ESO. One of the tracks from the base game's soundtrack is literally called "Alas, the dragon shall break" which is about as blatant as foreshadowing can get.

Where Cyrodiil is concerned, this means there's nothing to stop ESO having a PVE version of the zone focused on the conclusion of the Three Banners War, while simultaneously allowing us all to continue queuing for and competing for control of the PVP version of Cyrodiil. Exactly the same way you can play Summerset's storyline before playing Morrowind's, despite that meaning you're playing two chunks of the same story in the wrong order. You can then jump forward to Blackwood's story, and then go back and finally start playing the base game story with the Prophet, Lyris, Sai, and Tharn. It's all out of order, and that's absolutely fine, because this is all clearly one giant fricking dragon break that we're playing through, where all three alliances somehow managed to capture and control Cyrodiil at the same time, with a ludicrously long list of various emperors.

I can't wait to see how this period in history is covered in future TES entries, and I love that the devs seem to be fully embracing the concept of letting us play through such a colossal dragon break. The dragon break from TES2 occurred after the end of game, but this one we're experiencing... in real time? But of course time is irrelevant in a dragon break, so that's probably a poor phrase here

ZOS did state that ESO is not happening in a Dragon Break, but my observations tell me otherwise. I really do think it is a Dragon Break, and maybe ZOS will eventually role with that too, seeing how anyone can play any of the stories out of order. You can kill off any 4 of the 5 main companions, but still have them show up in DLCs. If it's canon that one Vestige does all these great heroic things in all the lands (not how I play, I have alts that take care of the different story arcs in each of their own homelands) then how do they get around to save everyone at the same time if all these events happen simultaneously? It has to be a Dragon Break, or maybe Uncle Sheo is playing tricks with our minds.

Honestly, I think it's time for the bosmer expansion.

I've been waiting since I finished the main storyline for it.

Well.... yes, in a way. But I don't play my bosmer as green pact adherents (ugh, just doesn't appeal - I mean.... I'm all for RP, but not really in that direction....)

I really want a chapter about Falinesti....

    Falinesti Chapter
    Hammerfell Chapter
    Telvanni Isles Chapter
    Redoran Chapter
    Skingrad Chapter
Skyrim Chapter (Whiterun, with Winterhold Q4?)
    Central Elsweyr Chapter
    Argonia Chapter

And yeah, maybe even a central Cyrodiil PVE Chapter! There's easily another decade in this game if ZOS wanted to keep it going that long.

Elder Scrolls always had a fluid timeline, like for example, in Skyrim there's no strict canonical order between the MQ and the civil war quest. Either can happen before the other or they can happen concurrently. That doesn't mean that time is broken in-universe, merely that the game does not force you to follow a strict timeline.

Dragon breaks only exist in-universe and strictly in the context of the experiences of a single person. Two characters having differing opinions can simply be a case of unreliable narrator and/or political/ideological/scholarly bias. If a single event has multiple contradictory outcomes that can all simultaneously be observed by a single individual, than there might be a dragon break.

The whole issue stems from a paradigm shift that occurred sometime after the One Tamriel patch; originally the writing team was working with the vision of a strict linear timeline, but as the company started putting more emphasis on flexible, choose-your-own-adventure gameplay and wanted to avoid forcing new players to play through 1000+ hours of old quests before getting to the new stuff, the writing team started to omit and remove references to fixed dates (e.g: Birds of Wrothgar patch).
Also, this fluidity doesn't mean that all events happen in the same year. Merely that they can happen in almost any order.

Because of this adherence to a fluid timeline, I think a PvE cyrodiil and an end to the Three-Banner war is unlikely; it continues to be referenced in new chapters as the biggest current event and acts as a framing device for the whole game. It's also supposed to last for decades, if not centuries, potential until the end of the second era when Tiber Septim conquers the whole continent. In universe it's only been going on for 2 years when the game starts.

Pretty bad example, since the MQ-> DLC transition is specifically handled with brief extra dialogues. It's the reverse that is questionable, doing DLCs before MQ.

Afaik nobody ever said it's all done by the same person. If anything, ZoS implied the opposite: every chapter has a CGI trailer to set the mood for the expansion and those use multiple characters as a stand-in for the player. Like we have the original three, altmer, breton and nord heroes. Then morrowind had a redguard warden and Blackwood an imperial adventurer. Summerset (altmer), Elsweyr (breton), Greymoor (nord) and High Isle (all three) reused the original heroes.
So there are at least like 5 quasi-canon main heroes.

Iirc the main story is NOT a dragon break, the alliance questlines and the soulbreak are cannon to TES lore, canonically tho the hero of each alliance and the vestige are all seperate people, all expansions are dragon break, they are not cannon to TES buy n large.

Yes, this is what people get confused about. The events don't happen all in the same year at all. Time is assumed to pass, but is personal to you, with no canonised order. But I think the problem is that some things seem to have innate chronological order. The 7th legion exists on one side of The Bangkorai Gate, but on the other, the Covenant guards an intact supply route to and from Cyrodiil. The Dominion strongly holds East Elsweyr Gate, and immediately to the south of it, Rimmen is controlled by the Imperials. Its hard to make sense of, say, The Companion's story arc if you haven't yet completed the original main quest. These continuity bloopers are all due to the change in direction you mentioned.

I think the reasons you've pointed out make sense, and are actually really good reasons to have it like this. Its a shame that commitment to this also means core plots can never really progress. The single player title model works really well within the context of a game that will be played for some time measured in hours: for something designed to be played for years, its questionable how enduring would be the appeal of the same Stormcloak-Imperial status quo 8 years on. Eventually it begins to feel contrived and boring.

You're right to point this out, though a pve-instanced Cyrodiil could still be designed under the assumption that Cyrodiil is still in the throes of war; enemy factions could be represented by NPCs- we've already seen instances of factions within our own alliances we don't agree with, would even fight against in certain circumstances. If we noble Bretons are willing to fight alongside furries and knife-eared queen-simps in the bowels of Elden Hollow or Cloudrest, its conceivable certain threats might transcend faction loyalty. Alternatively, faction conflict is largely happening "off camera": Cyrodiil is huge, and even at the standard pve scale, they could get away with a couple of chapters at least.

Falinesti is long over due. :D

I strongly agree! Keep in mind that early on during an interview, the developers suggested that Falinesti was intended for Bethesda to flesh out, not ZOS. If this remains the outlook, we'll all have to settle for Bosmer Island or something for our Wood Elf fix.

    Things change though, who knows?

Made a post about this, literally exactly this, a couple years ago.

By the way, the end of the three banners war happens a few hundred years after this game takes place, and it is ended by Tiber Septim. Talos himself.

I think that would make for a great plotline.

I've never played Dark Age of Camelot, another game in Matt Firor's career. They say it had some sort of underwater DLC, Atlantis something? Don't want to let imagination go wild or anything but i wonder.. Thras Chapter. Underwater kingdom of peace-loving philosophers Sload with occasional necromancer outcast. Yeah? Whole bunch of *free* underwater additions to every existing zone.. You want it, Matt! Rich?

    ESO: Hammerfell

The zone would be called Southern Hammerfell and be located South of the Alik'r and feature the coastal city of Hegathe, this zone would feature and incursion where a Mummy Lord is creating a sandstorm, going into the Sand Storm will blur your distant vision much like in the battle against Balorgh in March of Sacrifice, appearance wise this zone will be mostly desert with rain forest to the south-east

    ESO: Sunforge

It would be located South of Craglorn and north of the Gold Coast, it would feature the city of Verkarth , the city of Verkarth is infamous as it was where the old Gray Host leader Styriche ruled from before Rada-al-Saran took over, appearance wise this zone will be mostly rain forest with rocky crags to the north at the southern border of Craglorn.

This zone would feature an arena, this arena would be a 4 person arena and the weapon drops here would buff the weapon ultimate's themselves.

But the question is where. The AD campaign takes you all over Valenwood. So if they were to add another Bosmer Area, it would most likely need to be like High Isle. Where it's not part of Valenwood but the Bosmer settled there

just as a note. With the Tamriel clock addon you can see the current year in Linear time since the launch of the game. if you count the day/night cycle that is.

    its been about 27ish years.
