Necromancers

So this topic might *** people off but so be it.
So back on skyrim practically every playthrough of mine ended up as me playing as a daedra summoner specifically for the dremora lord and a necromancer, but how come can't we from level 2, summon a permanent boneman?
Sure we can summon the explosive one but its not the same thing, having us able to summon a boneman at first, bonelord later on and the option in the end to summon a deathlord would be awesome, hell even summon the first dead body we encounter. Unlike skyrim, we don't get the same summon zombie ability which should be something basic in the class really.
Also the abilities seems way too familiar to Guild Wars 2's Necromancer without the companion really

Just like the Sorceror can't summon a Dremora Lord or a Dremora Knight, i think the devs should rework the two classes where the necromancer is the primary summon class and the Sorceror is the primary dps class, give the sorcerors's a more dragon's dogma style where they are overpowering with their spells and the necromancers gets to summon bonemen, bone lords, daedra, dremoras, ghosts, spirits and maybe for a short while, they can summon a bone dragon or something, It would make more sense

You're a little late to the discussion. There was a lot of this back when Necros made their appearance. This is the vision ZOS has for their necro, so you are spinning your wheels comparing the ESO Necro to other games or your idea of what a necro should be. My advice is to stick with it. I find the Necro to be one of the most fun classes to play in ESO. After your initial disappointment you just may also.

I prefer having summons be recastable buffs instead of permanent ones that take multiple slots and are targetable.

Well welcome aboard. There is a lot here in ESO for you to enjoy. Try to go in with a fresh mindset & avoid dragging any previous MMO baggage with you & I think you'll catch the Elder Scrolls fever!

Play a sorcerer if you want permanent pets, the problem with the permanent pet thing is they need to be double slotted. Having them temporary means you only need them on one action bar not both and with the criminal activity attached to them it would make having permanent undead following you around more likely to get caught with a crime. There are plenty of neutral NPCs around outside of towns that will report your minions.

i like necromancers and sure i wish skeletal archer had more time and maybe was a bit more useful
i feel like necromancer is the name they give the class but it doesnt mean that zombies is what people expect in terms of what life giving/stealing magick can provide... after all necromantic spells in skyrim were hardly used for anything other than raising the dead it wasnt like an alternate source of healing life energy of which you siphoned and stored from others making you more powerful or anything like that...

Yeah i stuggle to get into mmo's, closest mmo i enjoy is Eve Online. Swtor yeah as good as it is, the sub just ruins it especially for players who like to hoard up gold/isk or whatever they call the main form of in game currency. I tried Guild Wars 2, as good as the classes is, the story is lackluster

That wouldn't make that much sense. What would make more sense and fit to Elder Scrolls better is if their spells actually looked like Elder Scrolls necromancers and not some Halloween caricature. The teal colour, the "spooky" hands from the dirt, flying skulls, the graveyard, scythe etc. It's such nonsense. They are supposed to be gross and scary. More rot, zombies, gore and insects! Don't care for permanent minions or whatever to call them at all, I care that they look ridiculous.
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

I actually like the necromancer style/motif, except for one thing: I'd change Flame Skulls for bone spikes, though. I think it would look cooler and less silly.

The one thing I enjoy about the necro is the fact that the summons are not permanent. Plus every time they die it gives me resources back and reduces the cost of summons, and gives me a corpse to use for my other abilities. So the more they expire, the greater the use they are to me.

Plus I'm not wasting both bars on one summon like the sorcs have to, and not having to unsummon them every time I'm in a city. Imagine being in a city with perma companions, bears, sorc pets... and necro pets running around...

At first I was bummed that necro pets were not permanent. But now that I've used a necro for a few years, I can say that I MUCH prefer it over the sorc pets.

From your post you want the more TES like spell learning. Maybe we'll get more options for spells and things with spell crafting... if they ever get around to making spell crafting... but the necro was made to fulfill each of the three roles. Tank, dps, and healer. But it'll never look or feel like a necro in the traditional TES games. Because this is a MMO with fundamentally different rules, and it already destroyed any resemblance to a traditional TES game the moment you were restricted to a single class. So trying to say you want it to feel like a normal TES game is not feasible. I mean even armor sets and metas really clash with the TES games. The sorc can summon two daedra (3 if you have use a certain monster set) and the rest is skills the devs thought would compliment it. But they clearly couldn't add every daedra for them to summon. But the necro ONLY being able to summon would be... terrible tbh. I'd hate it. I like the diversity in what I can do with the class.

But this is all just theorizing. They'd be insane and have a hell of a lot of unhappy players if they went and changed the basic structure of any class now. I mean threads on threads of complaints happen whenever they nerf something. They would never do such a drastic change to any class the way you're suggesting.

Necro has a skeleton mage. He is even worse than the NB pet. Hah. And a ghost to heal. I know that there are rules for MMOs but the necromancer has a lot of similar abilities as other classes but still worse than them...

I quite like it how it is now. A permanent undead companion, similar to the Sorc's permanent Daedra would be cool, but having 3 abilities dedicated to summoning permanent companions would be overkill. It would completely water down the class, making it way less versatile. Also, that design philosophy contradicts what is currently in the game. You are asking for the class to build up to better abilities. This, to me at least, implies that you would intend to bin off the first ability as you got stronger, as you would in Skyrim. This just isn't how ESO is done. The first ability in a tree isn't necessarily the worst. In fact, I don't currently have a level 50 character that doesn't have at least 1 skill that is the first of its tree.

Also, I don't very much like your suggestion to rework the Sorc and move summoning completely over to Necro. I quite like my Pet Sorc. Having 4 of my 10 ability slots consumed by the upkeep of my pet Daedra is the only way that I've found to enjoy that class so far, so I'm certainly opposed to any suggestion that would aim to change that.

You can also play a Warden. Kind of like Necromancers without the buggy-ass skills.
