"Change object" pathing removes object if over the limit.

With ESO+, you are allowed to place 10 special furnishings. Don't try to utilize the function to replace pathed objects though if you are not on ESO+, because it will remove them entirely instead of replacing them. That could be made clearer somewhere, or better yet patched out.
