What do you think the next chapter (2023) will be?

I personally think to really real everyone back in, it's going to be centered around Whiterun from Skyrim, but who knows? I also think they'll probably add a class with this one to really wow everybody. So my question here is:

1. Where do you think we're going next?
2. What class could be added that would thematically fit with your answer to #1?

Cheers! Happy Sunday!

I don't want to know until next year, so I'm not even going to speculate. And just for info, ANOTHER part of Skyrim would definitely not make me happy personally.

I think that the next year story will be either Redguard or Wood Elf or Imperial themed. If not, then the next passibility is for ZOS to look at what was popular and re-do Dunnmer or Khajiit themed zone again as those 2 races seems to be the most popular. Also, at some point (maybe not next year) I kinda expect to see Solstheim being added. This area is quite nostalgic as it was a part of TES III Morrowind Bloodmoon DLC and also we could visit it in TES V Skyrim Dragonborn DLC.

On the other hand, what I really wish is to fully explore entire Black Marsh. Argonians are kinda unexplored and they have huge potential for a interesting story. Aside from base game zone, small DLC and 1 dungeon they really don't received as much attention as Khajiits for example. Both are very interesting lore-wise and it is weird for ZOS to focus so much on Khajiits each year (returning NPCs, or new Companion this year etc), but so far there were literally no returning Argonian NPCs. And I am not talking about main plot of a chapter or something. Even when it comes to side quests in DLCs - there were no returning Argonian NPCs from the base game. Kinda shame and wasted opportunity imho. Sadly, I don't expect them to do Argonian zone, seeing how every time something Argonian themed could be added - it was not added & there must be a reason for it.

Please don't do anything Skyrim related, that's old hat... Still hoping it will be something outside of Tamriel, preferably Pyadonea.

I would enjoy any zone that helps fill in more of the map, especially in provinces which haven't been covered as much as some of the other ones-- so basically somewhere in Hammerfell or Black Marsh, I guess. But that isn't a prediction.

I'm leery of speculating about what the next new "feature" is going to be, because I've seen too many people get all excited over speculation or rumors, only to be disappointed when some new thing they were really looking forward to doesn't appear, or appears in a different form than they were hoping for. I mean, speculating can be fun, but you have to be really careful not to set yourself up for disappointment.

I'd like it to be either a new location or one not seen since Arena, not another nostalgia re-hash of something from a relatively recent game. I do want to see the whole of Tamriel available eventually, but I'm more excited about the parts we can't already see.

If I had to guess at what's likely I'd say Hammerfell, but for no other reason than it's a big area we've not seen much of. I'd really like the missing slice of Elseweyr, Black Marsh or Akavir. (Although if we got to Akavir I'd want it to be a little bit in each release, not an attempt to condense the whole contient down to 2 maps, that would be extremely disappointing.)

heck, in 2021 I was looking for something to look forward to in 2022. Ironically here we are again hoping for something better next year before 2022's chapter is even out. It's pretty telling.

On another note, I give a hard pass on any more nostalgia-based content related to previous game's zones. No offense but to me Whiterun is the most boring player hub Elder Scrolls has ever featured, and except for maybe Solstheim I'll be happy if we never return to Skyrim until they've exhausted all other opportunities for more unique content.

As others have said there’s no point in speculating yet and Skyrim again would not be a great idea.... at least until they fill in more areas.

    As for a new class?
After the hybridization changes, a new class would be massively hyped and benefit the game greatly. Preferably a Water class with all those pretty new animations they have made for you know, Summerset/Ascending Tide/High Isle....

I think we have a better chance at Horse Racing than a new class though lmao

It's been six years since there's been any Colovian content. Except for Istirus outpost or Moon Hunter Keep but one is a Battleground instance and the other a dungeon.
If you want typically "imperial" content, this is it. No one else despite the mystery of Mir Corrup in the Nibenay. But Nibenay was last year with Blackwood. And this even if only buildings are imperial in Blackwood. It's frankly a Daedric and dare I say Argonian Chapter.

A bigger map from 2023? With part of southern Hammerfell and the rest of Colovia? Or two large areas in these two regions?
I don't believe in a bigger map. Two zones isn't impossible but it would be odd since ZOS has found its groove.

2015 with Imperial City is Nibenese and Daedric area. What we found in 2021.
This year echoes Orsinium as the region is tied to a DC race.
So I can hope.. But the High Isle landscape makes me definitely give up Colovia for at least four to six years.

Personally i hope they wont do one and instead give the game some decent systems.
As a vet player myself i cant be bothered with all thease chapters focusing soley on attracting new players, theres nothing there for me and no reward system that acts as an incentive to do the storys.
The last chapter i completed was summerset, eveyone since i just pop in and do the accociated grind then i dont need to do any more.

I just want some decent MMO systems and more classes / race's, cosmetics, guild functions and pvp content.

Every chapter for the last 4 or so years has been extreamly underwhelming.

ESO could be so much better if they stop doing things like card games and skyring and these bloated pointless chapters.

I wonder if it will be the other sections of Morrowind? Like Tear, which is the capital of House Dres. I mean we don't even have a House Dres outfit style yet. Maybe that's why? Although I doubt that they'd ever do Blacklight... considering they messed up the map so badly, and for some reason they have Skyrim where Blacklight is supposed to be...

These types of speculative threads have been popping up every year for years. I think they have more to do with the zeal that a certain segment of the TES playerbase have for wondering about upcoming TES games-- where will they take us? when will they be released? etc.-- than with any disappointment you and others may feel toward recent or announced ESO expansions.

I'm gonna take a stab and say Hammerfell, just because that is where TES6 will be, so maybe some set up for that?

Its a strong response, but fair enough.

I think SI potentially meets a lot of their needs. Matt recently spoke about how close they were getting to filling out the map, stating that they weren't worried, because they had a lot of other possibilities beyond Tamriel itself. He explained that while they wanted to stick close to Tamriel itself, he explicitly pointed out proximal islands and daedric realms as great possibilities they could capitalise on.

Shivering Isles is a fan- favourite, and many people list it as the best DLC released to date. People really enjoyed the change in focus from high-fantasy Cyrodiil in Oblivion, with the return to the classic Elder Scrolls weirdness that The Isles brought. I wouldn't be surprised if ZOS wanted to capitalise on that.

Beyond that though, its a visually very interesting and a very unique location, so that could give the world artists a chance to do something very different from what they've done before. Its choc-full of curious and interesting places and has themes that could be fun to work with. But also due to its nature, with a little imagination the SI could tell very different stories than we saw previously. And given that the planes of Oblivion are all considered infinite, they could expand, change, or really do whatever they wanted with them so there's plenty of opportunity to do some completely new, unique stuff while giving a solid nod to the fan love.
