Does High Elf 5% Passive Affect Heavy Attacks?

I've searched high and low to no avail. It says High Elves receive a 5% damage mitigation while channeling and "ability" so I'm not sure this affects heavy attacks.
But... Anyone who has played this game long enough knows things are not always as they seem.
Does anyone know the definitive answer as I don't have a high elf to test it on?
