Soloing Castle Thorn veteran hard mode

After many attempts, many failures and a never-ending fight I have finally done it. I managed to beat Castle Thorn alone in veteran hard mode.





Here are the logs for the whole dungeon.



Castle Thorn was one of the first DLC dungeons I have done in veteran, and it's probably the first that was difficult to survive.

My group of friends and I really love this dungeon, in particular Lady Thorn whose combat requires a good positioning and resources management (especially for the non-stamina players, the rolls and break free cost a lot).



Long fast-forward, one day I got bored I wanted to do Castle Thorn alone in veteran.

At first I just wanted to do it in veteran, but when I reached Lady Thorn for the first time I activated the hard mode to see if it was possible to beat her. When I realized that I could survive her light attacks I knew that I could do it.

I didn't succeed the first day, I had to improve my build and practice the final fight several nights before finally defeating her.



It took a long time but that was fun. I wonder what to do now.

That’s cool, and not bad damage at all, considering how much she’s floating around in the fight. What are the other hard modes you have cleared so far?

This was my first solo hard mode, but my friends and I have almost done every 4 players hard mode (there is still Stone Garden and Moongrave Fane to do).

I did beat the Black Drake Villa alone but without the hard mode. I have to find something for Kinras's channeled ability to eventually beat it with hard mode.

Unfortunately no, it would have been nice because I was about to die at the very end of the fight.

Maybe I will do it for my next solo HM.

To be fair, I don't know if I could kill The Blood Twilight (second boss) without a DK. This boss have a channeled attack that shoot 10 projectiles that can't be dodged and deals a lot of damages. It's hard to survive without blocking this attack, but if you do it then you lose too much stamina.

As a dragonknight I have the corrosive armor to just ignore this attack, and eventually the protective scale that drastically reduce the damage of projectiles when my ult is not ready. This trivialise the hard part of the boss fight.
