Sorc tank: my pet dies sooooooo fast

I play sorc tank by one year in vet dlc dungeons and trials without the Unstable Clannfear and without any problem, healing myself with dark deal. My raid leader told me that I HAVE to use the pet because it provides the best healing in the game (even if I don't need it). I tryied the pet but he is always dead.... he stands in aoes or in front of the boss and he dies super fast with just 20k hp.
Another tank told me "I've never seen my pet dying"... It's me doing something wrong?

Pets should be completely and totally immune to all damage in instanced group content like 4-man dungeons and Trials. I don't tank but my Scamp and Matriarch never die in instanced group content. I really can't explain why your pet would be dying.

Your raid leader isn't wrong, but they're also giving you advice for a raid. Dark Deal is not a great self healing option as it forces you to drop block and has a 1s cast time before the heal even activates.

Pets die in overland and solo content relatively easy, but won't take any damage in 4/12 player pve content.

Is your pet on both bars? Sorc pets need to be double-barred in order to use em.
