Can't link twitch

I've tried linking my ESO account to my twitch account for a couple of months now with no success.

I don't have a ESO account connected to my twitch account according to their settings page, and according to the twitch support who said they couldn't do anything.
When i try to link my ESO account to the twitch account by clicking on the link on the account page it takes me to the twitch connection page where i click the confirm button.
After pushing the button I'm redirected back to the ESO account page with the following error message:

"Error: Your Twitch account is already linked to another ESO account. You can only link to one ESO account. To continue, please disconnect your other ESO account on the Twitch connection settings page found here: https://www.twitch.tv/settings/connections "

The ESO account remains unlinked but after doing this the twitch page states that i have a linked ESO account even though the error message made it clear that it couldn't link them.

So far I've tried the following:
* Removing the link on twitch and trying again
* Contacting twitch support
* Tried 3 different browsers

None of these solved the problem. Do I have to make a new twitch account solely for linking ESO or is this something that can be solved, hopefully before the loot drop
