I like having Mirri around, her snark makes me laugh and she doesn't mind pickpocketing 'n thieving, unlike pearl-clutching Bastian😱. I like that I can send her to the phantom zone when murdering is on the menu, and bring her back and she's ready for adventure. She hasn't changed my gameplay, just made it a bit more fun. YMMV of course.

Did you feel like this pretty much from the beginning or did this come over time? What is bothering you - her snarky comments or her attempt to teach you something? Or are her likes and dislike not after your liking?

I find her completely unlikable. It's all summoned up in this thread:

She’s a little too chatty for me. Bastion is more quiet.

In either case, combat wise they are high maintenance with gear (blue and above!). Bastian dies easily as sword and shield or two-handed, but for some rando bizarre reason, his ult is best utilised when playing as Sword and shield/two-handed. Mirri is great as dual wield or bow, but has the habit to pull.
This one can’t wait to see what combat quirks Ember and Isolde have.
PS. “First experience “ on thread title made this one blush. Sammy is innocent. Please don’t corrupt this one.

personally though i would rather just disable all companion chatter unless you did something that affects rapport (ive more or less tuned them out at this point because ive heard them talk so much, even with freaking "infrequent" dialog option set)

I find the opposite to be true. I have him set up as a sword and board tank and take him with me to solo dungeons and world bosses. I can count on one hand how many times he has died and still have fingers left over.
I have him in heavy armor and all his gear is bolstered, mostly purple quality (still working on that, those pieces are expensive) and followed an online guide for his skills.

I guess that is as well a matter of where you live and what you are used to - some countries avoid small talk, some use it to a certain degree and others use any opportunity to talk to each other, even if those are complete strangers. I got used to the latter and so I'm not bothered by Mirri's chatty behavior - and that she is telling me to roll to avoid an attack, she means well, I just don't follow that advice mainly because of high latency. Well, and rolling in the mud is not my Dunmers way to do things.

...The majority of people who have Bastian die as a tank, 1) don't have the right gear and 2) don't have the right skills equipped... but then blame the companion when it's the player not knowing how to properly equip the companion...
katanagirl1 wrote: »For overland activities like delves and public dungeons, either companion is fine. For mostly soloing world bosses and group dungeons though, I am going to choose tank Bastion over dual wield Mirri even if both have decent gear.
I don’t have Mirri fully leveled yet, but I don’t think she can hold up as well under heavy combat because of her skill choices.
