When gaze is slotted , you cant use block.
But if you have a psijic ability slotted then you can have a dmg shield active of 5K on yourself while blocking

How does that work when you also have gaze slotted ?
You cant block but you still get the dmg shield ?
Anywone knows more about this ?

Who said you can't use block?
    The 5p bonus describes;

"Reduces your Block Mitigation to 0."

It means you can block but it is not going to reduce the damage you will take.
So blocking will still protect you from some forms of stuns, it will proc sets or passives which requires you to block.

As other's have said, you can block. Blocking will give you a straight-up 50% mitigation (more on other classes). By using Gaze of Sithis, it simply removes this mitigation while still allowing you the ability to block, along with the downsides of blocking (e.g. reducing stamina recover to 0, costing stamina per hit, reducing movement speed, etc.). You could use Gaze of Sithis and still activate certain block-incoming-damage sets' proc conditions, or gain Psijic shield.

So far as stamina cost, block cost doesn't take shields into account, nor is there any variation in block cost between a light attack or a heavy hitting attack. The only difference is, for example, whether you're standing in an AoE taking constant damage every 1 or 2 seconds, in which case you will take damage per tick and each tick will cost you.

As far as I know you spend stamina for each damage tick you receive while blocking.
The amount of damage you take does not effect the stamina cost.

So if your block cost is X amount of stamina
1 damage tick that deals 5k will cost X stamina
1 damage tick that deals 20k will still cost X stamina.
    So no changes in cost.

10 damage tick will cost 10X stamina because you spend stamina each time you take damage.

I hope this answers your questions.

There is supposed to be cooldown on block resource drain, I think it is 0.25 seconds currently, i.e. crushing shock that also procs enchant and some instant damage proc should not be consuming 5 block costs.

You can still block. You still counter imbalance by heavy attatcks and so on, but you lose the damage negation from blocking. It does not matter however, if you use damage shields.

    Ok thanks all !

    Another related question then.
When i use block normally that costs stamina.

What if i block and have the psjic shield covering me and mitigating damage. Does that cost me stamina when the shield is still intact ? Or does it cost stamina from the moment someone attachs me ?

So in other words : the stamina cost of block …. Does that start already when being under fire ? Or does that only start to cost the moment my shield is depleted ? Thanks

Also : if i block in general …
And someone does a light attack …. Does that cost as much of stamina then someone would attack me with their biggest attack skill ?

    Thanks

Block always costs stamina, no matter how many shields you have up.
I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

I suspected that but I did not have exact knowlegde of it. At the end of the day it is pretty negligible.
