We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European console megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available.

what about canceling or delaying the event?

What do you think about terminate or reduce events? We all know that events means problems. Events could be nice if ESO had less players, and so the servers could handle it. But we all know that it's not possible, and from event to event the problems grow. Perhaps postponing events to a few years from now, when ESO has less population. I'd rather be able to play without extra XP, without gifts, without special incentives, than not being able to access to the game on my scarce free time because an event is taking place.

So, what do you guys think? Do you prefer to deal with increased instability and access difficulties with events, or reduce events so we can have better access and more stability?

    I want rolling events.

Saying you want to have events removed in order to potentially reduce the number of players could be considered sabotage.

You want to not only take away my rewards, but ensure no one else can have anything to look forward to either so as to ensure the game doesn't grow beyond your perceived concern for what a server can or can't do.

There is no other way to describe other than that. Which is selfish.

the question arises: is the event the root of the problem or is it the sharding process that got implemented? i would not say events are the culprit, the recent suprise event was no big deal in terms of performance.

It won't really help, since the real issues are not being worked on, and when the population dwindles, they surely won't start working on it then if it's not worth it to them to work on now...

The events aren't the problem; mucking-around with the servers and not getting it right is the problem.

I’d actually take more events, they don’t have to be double xp or anything. But it’s nice to have an extra focus for a couple of weeks.

Even things like the monster helm style page I enjoy trying to get

I think that you didn't understand. I'm not against the events, I enjoyed a lot of this events until it started to cause more problems than fun, and this was my favourite event.

Lately, at least at my end, I find lots of difficulties during events. Problems to login, sometimes impossible to access the game, the ping raises a lot, and so on... I don't know much about servers, but I guess that this happens because events attracts more people at the same time and the servers can't handle it. (forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong)

For players with scarce time to play it's harder, and we are getting way too much events now. For me the game is much more than the events, I still have a lot to do in the game. But you may be right, probably for endgame players is different, maybe endgame players who already finished everything needs more events for incentive.

Anyway, I was just asking exactly to know other ideas.

The events isn't the problem, if anything it's a good thing as it shows the servers need help.

Otherwise the only people having trouble would be PVPers and Trail runners, and they get mostly ignored when it comes to this stuff.

So now that it's happening to everyone, maybe they'll do something about it or at least take it seriously.

IMO, cancelling or delaying events should be a last resort, and otherwise feels like a cheap way out.
They can just cancel/delay and wash their hands of it.
      Hoping for more playable races

It's kinda obvious the servers can't handle a lot of people logging in/being online at the same time. Performance usually degrades during every event. A lot of people didn't know about the surprise event thanks to it being a surprise, so that's probably why we didn't see much performance issues during that.

I do vet trials weekly. Me and my buddies always dread the idea of raiding when there is an event on. Because that's pretty much a guarantee that trial instances are going to be extra wonkey.

Yeah, and might as well make ESO a single-player game. I'm sure you alone can sustain the whole service.

Jokes aside, "reducing active players" sounds like the exact opposite of what a service would want to do.
"We have too many players playing and enjoying our game! We are suffering from success! Sabotage the servers!"

Maybe making events go back-to-back constantly and repeat themselves at least twice a year would A) keep players engaged, B) Reward event participation, C) keep server stress slightly steadier now that you have a choice to partake now or later.
But I don't think the difference would be significant.

Just focus on server stability and keep the events as they are.
