What has playing MMO's taught you about yourself?

Gaming taught me that my real life is stronger than anything else and is therefore a powerful protection against addiction.

I feel very lucky for that because it gives me the freedom to fully enjoy gaming in MMOs, without any second thought, since automatically, after a while, I know that my need for "real" wins over and take me off my keyboard, no matter what. <3

I'm not sure if I explain clearly what I mean, but well... :D

I'm out of my mind, feel free to leave a message... PC/NA

I enjoy seeing other people having dlc, chapters and paid subscriptions that I dont have while playing this game.
Getting invited to run dungeon and trial from dlc and chapters.
Trying to up my dps using sets from dlc and chapters.

    Good times.

you get hungry, understandable - that can be fixed though, buy a smaller fridge and put it right under your desk, that you have food and beverages right near your gaming station, then you don't have to get up.

kidding of course  well, partly, I have such a fridge under my desk.

I am lucky. I tend to always get DPS meta weapons, while I main Healers or Tanks

I enjoy making characters into a different versions of myself.

I like hoarding and managing inventory....help my soul

I am helpful, kind, and supportive, while being a good leader. This makes random groups easy for me

I don't like toxic, selfish or unnecessarily mean people

I am a lazy leader in getting people together. Group finder saves me

I am cutthroat and analytical. I know dungeons so we'll that I can explain 5 different ways to do some fights, so you not me. As such, I vote to kick anyone who starts blaming me.

    I hate questing

    P.S

I am loyal...this year will be year 7

    About worst part:
It's a trap/illusion for addicted person who can't say: "I don't like my real life and this is why I'm here. Pretending that everything OK." Escapism. And mmo developers using "reward system" for our brain. So... we're exchanging our real life hours for something unreal. Including unreal rewards.
    About good part:
You're not so lonely if you can share virtual experience with someone and communicate.
But... you can try same thing in reality. Just try.
I said all this to myself recently. Just sharing with you.

hehe, you might find this amusing - I just came across it and enjoyed it a lot
(it is not amusing for those not involved in programming, so don't bother in this case)

Even when I'm not feeling sociable I enjoy having other people in a game. There are days when I log into ESO or my other MMO and don't actually speak to anyone or play directly with anyone, but I still enjoy it more than a single-player game (which I also play regularly) because of the variety and unpredictability of having other players around. It means I never quite know what's going to happen or what I'll see, even in fairly routine content.

Also I'm a lot more relaxed and not fussed about precise stats and builds than a lot of people. Part of the reason I like RPGs is because of the amount of character and build customisation they offer and I like understanding what all the stats do and theory crafting, so I would say the numbers are important to me. But ultimately my standards are along the lines of "if I'm alive when my enemy dies my DPS was good enough" and I'm not going to use skills, weapons etc. I don't like.

If I was just playing single-player games and not seeing how other people play I'd probably still think I cared more about the stats than most people, but playing MMOs has taught me that actually I'm on the 'casual' end of theory crafters (if there is such a thing).

I got to realize that I don't enjoy being powerful in a game - I'm loosing interest pretty quickly when this happens. I have the most fun at the start of a game and for as long as I'm just mediocre, but once I start to feel powerful, I rather play something else or make a new alt character. I really can't understand why people rush to be powerful, the last I want to be is powerful.

From this follows, that I normally never complete a game - about 1/3 in, I loose interest. With a few exceptions, I completed Dishonored for example.

That I should stop making alt characters and waste time with them since I only dedicate to one.

Did it never happen to you, that an alt character took over and became your main - and he/she again was overthrown by another alt later on to be your main?
