Is there an general consensus on Homes and Companions in Game RPly speaking

In the RP community, here in ESO, i was wondering what the -general- consensus is regarding homes, and companions.

Homes- in my head there is some kinda mage time phasing or something going on, to explain how players might have the same house, in the same location. Example: Hunding's Palace is where it is, and people purchase oblivion shards or something some the mages that allow each person to have 'their own' home in the different player housing locations.

Companions. How are they viewed? Like pets? You don't see them? Etc.

What is the general view you have found among RPers in ESO.

I don't even go that far but I like your solution. I just imagine there might be similar houses in the area that other characters have, or a row house, apartments, etc. The game world is already so much smaller than the single TES game standards. I'm already imagining my own responses to NPCs in addition to, or replacing the game one's (some game player responses are just so bad). For me it's easy to see other people's companions as just some random passerby and not a copy of mine. I guess I have a pretty big imagination in the MMO aspect of this game. I have a harder time/ impossible time imagining away actual NPC dialogue because my mental RP does focus heavily on the stories of the quests themselves, and the voice acting is very immersive for me. I can imagine extra steps between quests that my char might do, but I can't imagine away NPC voice acted dialogue for some reason.

Well, since there doesn't seem to be a huge consensus, this is what i've come up with for myself and guild, and shall personally adhere to.

In my RP community we just pretend that a certain house is in a certain location or we use the house that best fits the purpose. For example, we don't RP in Marbruk but several people use the Cliffshade house as their residence or shop because it fits the theme and is the right size. If people want to visit that house or if there's some kind of event they just teleport there. We've also seen houses that were decorated as caves or theatres for special opportunities like an event or a plotline that was asking for a special setting.

I've personally never seen somebody RP with a companion though. We have made use of house guests, pets and bankers as NPCs or even characters (since you can't make a senche or an alfiq ingame, for example), but usually nobody plays two characters at a time unless it's absolutely necessary in the situation. As a (temporary) game master I have emoted several characters at the same time, but this is usually the exception because it's quite stressful and I usually try to focus on one char and prefer if other people do the same (because chat can get confusing if you can't tell at first glance who is talking). ;)

My vivec city inn room is ICly in that small town in the northeastern corner of Vvardenfell. I keep wanting to call it Gnosis but I can't remember if that's the name. I picture it as a small one-room house somewhere in the town.

All my other inn rooms I name them Room <Number>. Except one of them I think I named it Storage Room, because I just crammed a bunch of stuff in there.

I tried to turn that Summerset castle we got for free a long time ago into a cave system, but gave up and just use it for storage. :|

I get anxiety when faced with huge housing areas and so I tend to block them off to make the spaces look smaller.

When I go to my Gorinor estate (or any of my other houses for that matter), I just imagine that the outer door that is a part of the main game world leads to a "neighborhood" of sorts, which is why I see other characters coming and going through the gate. And during the time that I'm on the loading screen, I imagine that my characters are going along the path that takes them to their particular house.

Basically for houses a certain house does not have to be in the in game location.

I use a house that is located in Glenumbra for a shop that is located in Leyawiin in role play world. Basically each house you see in game can be anywhere in the role play world as players decide and build their world.

On the another example, some players create houses that can be anywhere and can be adjusted to the role play. Like inn housings. Since these locations are mostly for meetings.
