Character Creation "Save Failure."

Over the past couple of days, my wife and I have both tried to move a character name from our other accounts, to our main account. Each time, after deleting the character from the alternate account and trying to create it on the main account, the system says "Save Failure." after hitting the Create button.

As a test, I deleted the character from my alternate account, then tried to create it on my main account every hour for 6 hours. Each time it said "Save Failure". I then tried at the 24 hour mark, just to see if something would clear overnight, or maybe there was a 24 hour hold on the name for the alternate account. Even after 24 hours, I received the "Save Failure" error. To clarify, once I deleted the character from my alternate account, I never remade it, in case there was a hold period for the name.

My wife submitted a ticket, but they don't seem to grasp the issue, so I thought I'd give this a shot and see if anyone else has experienced this and/or knows how to resolve it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Update: My wife tried deleting the character on the alt account, and using a Name Change token on her main account to get the desired name. When attempting to apply the new name, a "System Error" was thrown. The character name didn't change, but the Name Change token was consumed, and now whenever she tries to create a character either on her main account, or on the alt account where it was, it says "Name in Use".

When I go in game and try to send a mail to the character name, it says "Unknown Player".

So now, it's cost us real money for the token. The person trying to address the ticket doesn't seem to be able to address this.

    Frustration...

Still an issue. Over 48 hours later and I still can't create the character on my main account that I deleted from my alt account.

On the wife's Customer Service side, they just keep replying with the same old stock answers that get us nowhere.

It sounds like the system counts the name as already in use even though the character was deleted... I wonder if it would work if instead you name changed the character on the alt account, and then created a character with the desired name on your main... Did you at least get refunded for the consumed token?

That's a good idea. We'll definitely try that if she's able to get the desired name back on the alt account. As soon as she used the name change token, the error went from "Save failure", to "Name in use", but when I try to send a mail to that name in game, it still says "Unknown Player". Customer Service did flag the placeholder name for a name change to compensate for the expended token.

We've followed their checklist - removed add-on folder, deleted system variables, ran repair - and still have the same outcome. We meticulously documented our steps, and are now waiting on their next reply.

You can lock this @ZOS_Bill, she decided to choose a different name and move on with her gaming. As a side note, the parallel test I've been running on my accounts is still failing, generating the Save failure error. I don't care about the name, just curious about the outcome for my own curiosity.

I spent over 20 years in the IT world, I don't claim to be a know all genius, but my gut tells me it has something to do with the sharding since the accounts we deleted the characters from are used very little, and our main accounts are used daily. Two different machines, four different accounts, but same outcome.

It's too bad there isn't a phone option for support...the one e-mail a day process gets tiring. Not great for customer retention.
