Why are all tattoos symmetrical?

where in the world does that even exist...except exclusively in ESO...infact you don't even have another option...if you want a tattoo on one arm you have to have the exact same one on the other arm...kinda dumb...probably too late, but they should have options to place them on different parts, ie. arm tattoos you can place on either arm (or both if you want), same with legs, etc...

This is an interesting point the OP brings up. Everyone I've known or met that has tatoos seem to have different tatoos on different parts of the body. Like one thing on the right shoulder, and something different (or nothing) on the left.

There are various "non symmetrical" body tats (I'm not much into face tats - um - major understatement there.... I almost never use face markings).

For instance (only one I can think of offhand, not in game at this point): Senchal Brigand body tat.

The new cherry blossom body marking is also asymmetrical.
But yeah I would love to have asymmetrical ones on the arms especially. If we can have one sided shoulder styles I'm sure this is possible.

Because ZOS only does one half, the other half is too much work so it's just symmetrical, that will be 100 gems please.

...not really, the arms and legs are the exact same duplicated, the chest/back are one image, they are cherry blossom branches, so they go on an angle but they are single images...so yes, sometimes they have chest/back pieces that aren't symmetrical but I wasn't really counting that as they are single images, but the arms and legs are always duplicated and still most of the time the chest/back piece is something that is symmetrical.

They aren't all symmetrical. The Warrior-Poet ones for example.

well...yes, yes they are, the arms and legs on those are the exact same like everything else...yes, there are a few designs where the chest and or back are not symmetrical, but they still always have symmetrical arms and legs.

I suspect it's an extra step to make them non-symmetrical, so it's just easier and faster while making the texture file to make them symmetrical. It just smacks of laziness (or of having a manager breathing down your neck to finish it as fast as possible).

It's because pixels are much heavier than people realize. If they don't get the weight distribution correct, then your character will be off balance and will only be able to run in circles.

Something that has bothered me for a long time. Most markings we get follow the exact same pattern. Stuff on chest and back, then mirrored on arms, thighs and shins.

The Old Salt marking in the current crates is a great example. It would have looked much better looking more messy with different tattoos here and there. Instead we have this that got mirrored tattoos of ships on the thighs.
Having ones that only cover parts would be nice too. Such as only on arms like some base game ones, or one arm etc. They need variation.

I wish there was one arm only tatoos like the one that wrestler roman has.

It would look great with a 1 shoulder only motifs

Just leave tattoos alone. I have games with very very ugly tattoos. But in ESO... i can't even explain the love... the work...the time all artists spend to make them. This is pure art!! <3

I agree with you that the art in ESO is awesome. And it should be appreciated. But the request for more tattoos is fine in my opinion.

Most likely they are simply making the art on one side and then copying/mirroring to the other side of the skin. In my opinion there should be both. More options is better, and really it isn't much more work at all (from the artist pov).

But what's wrong with asking for something? Be it tattoos or performance?
