Saltwater Fishing Shenanigans in Stormhaven? (Possible bug?)

I've been on my Master Angler journey and all seemed typical throughout the Pact and Dominion zones, until I walked into Stormhaven and started with the Saltwater types.

I've never caught so many blues. Ever. After days of trying I finally looted the Dab. To note, yes I'm using the Pickled Fish Bowl as well as the new green Champ Passives. I searched this up and apparently players have been experiencing this odd rarity difference for years. Is it just a forgotten/ignored bug? Oh, and don't mind the Slaughter Crane. I keep it as a memento since it's the only fish in the game that actually had special rules on where and when to catch it. I thought that fun and interesting, so it's literally a trophy to me.

it could be possible that the chance to get the dab and the alcaire pike are reversed and the dab has the drop rarity the blue should have

most players possibly just ignored it and once they got all their fish they moved on

(on another note i am still missing the crab slaughter crane, its the only fish im missing in wrothgar due to the "rules" associated with it lol)

Yes, it's always been like this, to the point where it's probably more disruptive to fix than to leave alone. It's just one of the quirks. The "blue fish" for this one zone just happens to be one of the greens.

Curious, what rules are associated with it? We did Wrothgar one night as a guild and all of us collected the pink fish from the same fishing hole within seconds of each other and never thought about it again. I know I certainly haven't done the zone story yet (it's on my list of things to do on a rainy day lol).

It's a Saltwater fish that can only be caught at night and a certain place on the coast.

After a week of trying I eventually did loot a Dab from Stormhaven. They had to have accidentally given that fish the blue quality drop chance, but even still a whole week is really bad compared to the rest of my experience.

Speaking of, after I finally caught that fish, Rivinspire, Bangkorai, and Alik'r were all fished within 7 hours. I am now a Master Angler!

Don’t you also need at least three people fishing for it too? (Or possibly the equivalent, haven’t tested with fish boosting food and fishing CP equipped…)

IDK if its related or not but I got on after the maint and started skinning fish. Ended up with 14 perfect roe out of 860 fish. I am dozens of thousands of fillets in and never saw a batch of skins hit that rate. It was around double what you would expect. Which can happen sometimes, but at 800 fish youd figure it would be closer to the average and not just some streak of insane luck like you might see from skinning a smaller batch. I just cant shake the feeling something changed like it did here with your rare fish loot.

I didn’t have trouble getting that one recently but for some reason the lake nodes were not respawning for me so that took a long time.

It's RNG. Your results aren't even close to atypical. I have gotten 3 perfect roe out of 4 skinned fish. The drop rate is still 1%.
