Please allow for groups to save progress in vDSA (as a group, not individual)

The last few times I have done vDSA, I have had a group member need to go and attend to real life (which is more important!). This is always near the later stages, I recorded my time with vDSA today and the person had to go 2 hours and 30 minutes in. The other group members would have gladly halted the DSA and waited for them to get back or to do it again another time.

It really sucks for people who put in all that work and then not get anything in return...

I am not saying let 4 individual saves exist, so then people can form groups and skip a bunch of rounds, but is there a way to save the original 4 people like how we do with trading the dungeon groups so that the original group members can come back and do this again? Even if it's not for a score, many people just wanted the perfected weapons from vDSA.

While I am not opposed a specific group being able to save and restart, I think the bigger issue is the 2.5+ hour clear time. The reality is that this is unlikely to be implemented any time soon and your efforts would probably better be spent working on getting that time down to a reasonable number. The other harsh reality is that if you arent clearing vDSA in under an hour, your group DPS is not high enough that perfected weapons are going to even be noticable. While perfected weapon bonuses are not all that earth shattering, they are rewards for clearing specific content, and VMA aside, that typically means in one go.

the best times ive had in vDSA were on a 1 tank + 3 dps setup

we didnt have the ultimate stellar dps, but we would usually have the dps to finish in about 1.5 hours assuming we hit no speedbumps

the arena does have limitation in how fast the spawns come in, so even on normal its very rare ive been able to finish faster than about 60 min

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

@moleculardrugs the problem with this idea is that i could get to the last boss with some friends, change character and we clear, then we reform the old group and we're back at the last boss again, skipping the rest of vDSA. It would be too easy to exploit unless the whole thing resets when the group changes, which means if someone has to leave you can't get a friend to finish.

Personally I think it would probably be a better use of the dev's time to just do a pass over vDSA where they reduce the amount of time spent waiting for dialog and long spawn times. Even groups that clear in under an hour find the place tedious.

I can solo normal in just under 50 minutes, and that is with all the RP. With 4 DPS in normal, you can do it in under 40 minutes. I agree that RP is a factor and no matter what you do, there is a minimum time you wont get around, but a sub one hour clear is not all that difficult on Vet, especially with how much DPS we have these days. Dont get me wrong, you need to know the fights and cant dilly dally, but 1hour is not an unreasonable target vet clear.

Vdsa is definitely overly long with lots of unnecessary npc chatter and slow spawns but yes, 2.5 hours is longer than many people would have patience for.
Ultimately there just isn't a mechanism to save or recreate an instance for a fixed group of people. Vma saves progress but only at the level of the individual arena, and it does that via the staged quest progression. I think vVH does the same but I don't think I've ever done vVH not in one sitting. Basically if you leave and come back it recreates an instance at the stage you left, but doesn't save any progress within that stage. No quest, no saved progress, and there isn't really a good way that comes to mind to handle that quest issue with a group.

the dialog is usually tied to the wave spawns, but i dont think the actual spawns are limited by the dialogs

it definitely needs to be cleaned up a little to spawn enemies faster, if everything is dead on the current wave it shouldnt wait like 10 seconds to spawn the next wave (considering most dialog are at the start of the wave and happen during the wave, but the actual enemies in the wave spawn way too slow)

@Oreyn_Bearclaw the problem is that a lot of the time when a group wipes it takes a really long time for the spawn to restart. You can tell they took a lot of lessons from vDSA into vBRP to cut down on wasted time.

I think the bigger issue is simply the time between rounds. The time between looting the final boss of one stage to fighting the first add of the next stage is absurd. I ran this place a stupid amount on normal (I think 32 runs) to get my DDF lead. I honestly havent been back in there since. Good way to kill content if you ask me.

Since ESO does not use a weekly lockout method I have seen in other games I expect this would be a challenge to create a system that would remember a specific group and their progress. It really is not that simple. It is nothing like remembering the progress an individual has made in a solo arena which is tied to the quest as nothing in a group quest deals with who is in a group.

What I would suggest is to keep running with the same core group. Practice makes perfect and the group will start clearing vDSA much faster as they learn the fights and mechanics.

i wouldnt be suprised if i ran just as many within the past year, i know i ran a couple dozen just to level mirri and bastion up, and probably another 6-12 to get the lead drop, and then more once we had the double drop event + curation lol (i am still missing only a few drops but im down to only 3 more perfected masters weapons left to collect now)

the only reason i could see adding the timer before starting the next wave was to ensure all party members were present, but they could possibly alleviate that by adding some kind of interactable button that starts the next arena as soon as you are ready, im sure this could easily end up shaving 5 minutes off of a full run if it were implemented
