AWA - Collected Skyshards I Have Not Collected

Anyone encounter this feature where you have a ton of skyshards that show as collected but in reality, you have maybe 1/3 of them collected?

The solution of course is to buy the "3 of 15 remaining skyshards" for the zone in question from the crown store... for full price obviously.

Pay for them. It's all ZoS care about. Role-Play is Death! Pay, or go run all map again. ZoS dont care at all.

Yes we have all had this happen.
Zos has taken away the ability to replay alts as a individual character by implementing AwA.
If you have completed a skyshard, delv, WB etc on any of your toons, it will show completed on all toons.
Sad huh?

i've had various states of skyshard from being in front of one that looks like its been collected - no beam of light - but when i'm stood next to it i can press "E" go through the collection animation and it registering as a 1/3 of a skill point
to
being in a totaly new area that my character has never steped into before and all skyshards are "dead" i can stand next to said shard but can do nothing to collect the shard that should be active to me
to
working as normal, i'm waiting to find a skyshard that looks like i should be able to collect - beam of light, etc - and not being able to for a full house
as for the map ive given up on useing it to try and find 'owt regarding shards - even the skyshard mod is a bit flaky - for me it just shows the location of all as unfound - so usefull for knowing ware they are but not so good for showing wether i have that particular shard or not

I haven't experienced that in the past few days, once the skyshards addon was updated. Where (as in what part of the UI) are you getting the incorrect message that they are already collected from? If you run a broad multi feature UI addon, you may want to test disabling it. Older addons will definitely read incorrectly as they are using achievement data that is now account wide, but there apparently was a new api function that reads skyshard status in a character specific way.

Not only alts. But all the game.

I have complete Elsweyr to get Hall of the Lunar Champion with one alt char. I never read that story because, at the time, i only need the house. So i use that alt and complete all the faster i can.
Same for Dark Brotherhood quest. Same alt char, dont care at all about story... only need the Costume
And many other quests. I did all of that... cuz i have one MAIN char. Doing all quests in order etc...

This is a practice that is becoming sounder by the minute.

Apart from this, I changed my gaming habits, no more shards collecting, no more delve bosses, more random roaming with new alts. It works for me.

Under the new AWA, all of your characters' achievements should show given skyshards as collected if any of your characters have collected them, but a specific character who hasn't collected a specific skyshard yet should still be able to do so.

True. But if you can't tell which ones you have or not gets problematic, especially for those with lots and lots of alts. We cant track it anymore.
If ZoS wants me to start character sheets and spread sheets to track what my alts have done, I might as well go back to playing D&D.

No point in doing regional dailies, alts cannot get achievement completion points, etc etc no point PAYING anymore

Haven't had any issues with skyshards being shown in a wrong state. The zone guide shows them perfectly, and it hasn't failed me yet. But I do not check them through achievements, never did.

On PC, add-ons that show locations of the shards have been updated in order to ignore the shard achievement completion and show uncollected shards on chars who haven't still collected all the shards.

On consoles, where there aren't any add-ons to mitigate the atrocious implementation of AWA, it will be a complete MESS.

The question isn't if but when they will fix this and as it's one of the most important things to fix (in my opinion) this will probably happen fast.

Just to be clear....... on console if one character had all skyshards/all public dungeons completed, we will have no way to know which skyshards/public dungeon group events we have completed on an alt now, correct?

Public dungeon group event achievements are still character specific.
Zone guide tracks skyshard collection correctly, but achievements don't.
You definitely still have tools to track, but they may not be the ones you're used to.
Note that you may need to be a little more careful than previously to avoid confusion. For example, Public dungeon achievements for bosses other than the group event is account wide, so you will no longer be able to look at those achievements to guess at whether a particular character has been in that public dungeon.

Its going to be a joyous experience.

I have been warning guildmates about it since it was first mentioned & saw how was going to be implemented, as I understood how achievements in this game are entwined with monitoring progression through the game (unlike those here who kept saying ‘why you need achievements just enjoy the game’).

Have suggested ESO app & spreadsheets if they care about different characters at all.

Tuesday night / Wednesday morning is going to be ‘fun’.

I don't know if they will ever fix it. I write this because it seems to have made a lot of sense to them to release AWA in its current state....

The map and zone guide are like that for the Deadlands/Fargrave. I just now went and checked other zones, and I can see this particular problem seems to be confined to Deadlands/Fargrave. I made a bad assumption thinking other zones were affected in the same way.

I definitely didn't go to those areas when I checked.
Edited to add: its a relief that the issue is only seen in those areas, but it's still a significant bug impacting playability. Hopefully the answer is that zone guide/map for that area have just not been updated to stop using achievements for skyshards and instead usethe alternate tracking. In that case it's in principle a straightforward bug fix.

Console player here spent the last two days speedrunning base game zone skyshards to get as many as possible before this disaster hits.

I apologize to any other players caught in the backlash as I ran without fighting mobs to get to the skyshard and then back again. I usually try very hard to not be “that guy” but I have many alts to do in little time.

Report that in bug reports, or use the in game slash but command, or both.
