It's so tiring to have to keep removing my companion because of this that I stop bringing them out if I know I might get in situations where the get in the way due to this button [snip].

The new one wont be introduced before june, so if anything new is scheduled for the companion it would be logic to have it at that time0 -

Just chiming in to recommend "FOB - Companion Helper". For me its an essential addon that should be part of the base game ASAP.4

If they stop acction that remove raport they should remove it completely as the point of it is to have negative and positive
As for interaction button, i personnaly tink it make more sense as the same button as interacting with any other npc

Not only is it our interact button, it's also our loot button, jump button, fish button, harvest nodes/INSECTS (mirri...) button on console.
At least the jump button is separate on the PC, but I still get bugs who get in my way just so I annoy Mirri when I am trying to loot/harvest something else.PC

Look under Controls > Addon Keybinds > FOB. Choose a keybind for “enable/temporarily disable”(PC-NA) @LoneStar29111 -

drsalvation✭✭✭✭✭Companions need to be interacted with using the context menu (if on consoles, press and hold start button, the same way you interact with players).
Give them a companion wheel, for follow, wait, talk, view gear, collectibles, etc. It would make it easier to navigate through, and no more worrying about having to look one way to jump a cliff just because you didn't want to talk to your companion.
OR
Prevent players from interacting with ANYTHING if sprinting. This should also fix the issue where you're about to jump a river with your horse but your character just dismounts because he wants to grab a firefly, or you don't jump at all because there was a fishing hole.1 -

Oh it's definitely a problem for PC as well, though just seeing the others post about the add on will at least fix that for me. Just installed it.
But I feel your pain. The other day I couldn't throw my flowers on an NPC for the event b/c Mirri kept getting in the way. I ended up having to just turn her off.-- @xaraan --
