Housing extra space issue

Hey everyone,

After reading many articles about how frustrating is for most of the people ,including myself, regarding the extra space needed for the houses I came up with the idea to be able to buy extra space with crowns ,for ex 50 or 100 more room for the objects for 1k ,2k crowns more or less ,u name it Zos ,it s your decision .I think this way is a win to win solution ,rather than increasing for free to everyone where such a procedure would flood the server and create lag as you so mentioned in one of the articles I ve seen here. Besides that ,it s not like everyone would spend crowns for extra slots ,but only a part of your community ,which are housing fans such as me. I m playing this game mostly for this feature, and so many others. I truly believe housing is one unique feature added to an online game because let s face it ,trials and dungeons all games have ,pvp also, questing once again you have it everywhere. Please try to focus more on this segment ,because many new players might start playing just because of this ,otherwise they can pick easily other mmos out there where yes ,u have trials ,dungeons and pvp.Not to mention pvp in this game is a joke.
Let me know what you all think about this and hopefully Zos will have something to think about for this games housing future.

They already made plenty of statements regarding the slots increases. You are very not the first one who came up with the thought of adding more in the crown store, but the problem is not whether they should add more in one way or another, it's whether they "can". And at the moment, the short answer is : no, they cannot, even if they want to.

And they do want to increase them, believe me, they do.. And if they have a solution tomorrow, they won't hesitate a second to make it happen, as they know housing is a popular thing among the community.

The problem is all about performance, and even though they made some improvement on some of that, it's not a miracle, automatic solution to make the slots increases possible. The way it is now, if they would increase it, you wouldn't even be able to port to your home. There are different kinds of furnishings, each with their own performance "budget", Traditional ones will cost less than Specials, and collectible usually cost less than traditional, If they increase one, they'll have to decrease another...

Put it simple, a big chunk of some of the Devs work are "***, How do we make the new content working ?" and the other half is "Oh ***, how do we fix and improve the old one now that we have this new thing ?".

Understand a few things here. Before they touch on that, they have other priorities to focus on, and this year will focus on fixing the PvP, which is an aspect of the game that was here since the beginning, and one that was begging for a major performance update... Now, I don't like PvP, and I hear that you don't like it either, but that's just our opinion. You can call it a joke, but a LOT of people are still very actively playing PvP, and it's still very popular. And as much as housing is an awesome feature, it's purely a cosmetic feature, not PvE or PvP, so not on the top priorities, as expected.

My personal wild guess ? (and hope), is that after they are done with it, next year will be partially focused on making some housing performance updates.

ZOS has mentioned that if they add more space, it could break housing to a point you wouldn't be able to enter or leave your house potentially. The limits are in place to prevent catastrophic failure of the housing system. As much as you want more slots and would even pay for them, ZOS has learned from past mistakes on this one and are not willing to take the risk of it getting out of hand and so broken they can't fix it.

If you're looking for an example of what happens when ZOS just keeps adding things to a part of the game until it breaks, you can just look at Cyrodiil. They've been "fixing" that for 7+ years now. They absolutely do not want to break housing in the same way because some houses cost $100+ each and housing in general is a massive revenue source for them. Cyrodiil? Probably not so much.

I see what ur saying but hopefuly in the future maybe they add this option, at least to some certain houses, not all of them, we will see 😋

I still wouldn't mind separate instances within the house. Treat inside different than outside so they don't both load. Sure there would be a loading screen when going inside from the outside and other way around but it could give more slots. Might be some technical difficulty with that as well?
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I would pay for more furnishing limit but first if they increase the limit of the big houses without any need for spending real money. I got Wraithhome and the 700 are simply not enough, it feels like an lifeless hall and i need to close parts of the home so it doesnt look empty.

Also i just wanna say that i do not understand the argument with performance since dungeons have way more items in place and it doesnt impact performance

Because housing and dungeons are two very different things. One dungeon will be the same for everybody, no matter how many people are entering it, it's the same ONE dungeon, and all the furnishing are locked and part of the place in a way that it won't kill the servers when people go in, using devs zone building tools we obviously don't have.

Now, take a Daggerfall Overlook. Every player can buy one, so that makes it a few millions, meaning there potentially are a few millions different instances/versions of a Daggerfall Overlook... And that's just one house among many.

Put it simple, we are given a very "primitive" and limited version of a tool that they use to make stuff around. Every furnishing we place are technically not permanently locked and part of the background, they are a physical object that costs a performance budget to allow to exist within this place, a slot. Zone wise, Take Fargrave for example, the super crowded markets ? With tons of objects in stables ? That's because the whole thing is one entity, permanently locked in place as part of the background, which is why you don't have Blue Screen of Death when walking in zones.

That remembers me off my solid works assembly groups. Yeah that makes sense. Didnt think about it that way. Thx for clarifying!
