Extra gold

I logged in today to find ~1 million gold in my character's inventory that doesn't belong to my account. I logged in, opened my mail (got ~10k from sales), sold some stuff to the fence next door (about 2k), deconned some armor at the clothier station and listed some stuff for sale. That was when I noticed my character was carrying 1 million + in her inventory.

I haven't played much this week and haven't made that many sales. I tend to deposit all but 3k each day. I haven't taken gold from my bank and the amount there is correct. I did not received any mail from other players, nor can I withdraw gold from any of my guild banks.

As soon as I noticed this discrepancy, I wrote support and logged out. The ticket number is 20225-003425 . @ZOS_Kevin I'm terribly sorry for bothering you, but could you look this up for me? The gold isn't mine, I have no idea how it got there and I'm afraid to log in and make the investigation more complicated.

Lol you are the type of guy that finds 20 euros on bar floor and asks the people near you if they lost it.

I did it, still hate myself over it.

I just know the guy who picked the 20 didn't own them.

I've done it more than once, not in a bar, way more than 20. I have no regrets. At least two times I had ways to prove the money did in fact belonged to them. But even if I didn't have a way to know for sure, that wouldn't be on me. I did the right thing, if the other party lied, that's on them.

My sis in law and I were in SoCal on a run for stuff for her business. Walked out of the hotel, and there was a bill on the parking lot.

A hundred bucks US. I picked it up and took ti back inside to the front desk, gave it to the manager, and asked him to see if anyone reported missing money. I gave him our contact info, and told him the fire alarm at 3am was "only a blip".... and not to worry. (Yeah, it was a bit more than that, but hey.... at least there WAS a fire alarm, even if there was no fire....)

Six weeks later, the hotel mailed me a check for the money. No one had reported it or claimed it. So, yeah. That was one of my good deeds that year - 1993 I think....

I didn't need the money - but I did the right thing. And.... husband and I put that hundred in the Salvation Army kettle that Christmas. Every year now, I put $150 in those red kettles just before Christmas. Because.... y'know, I've donated to various "good works" orgs over the years - and EVERY ONE OF THEM mails me over and over and over again throughout the year, begging. So now, I just put cash in the kettle - because Salvation Army doesn't know me from Adam's off ox - and all that cash stays RIGHT HERE.

Actually, I really hate most charity crap.

@ZOS_Kevin , thank you so much for your and CS' work. The mystery was solved, and now I feel very silly for wasting your time - on a Friday evening, no less. I'm sorry.

For anyone who is curious about it. I fought a WB last Thursday night with another player. After we were done they told me they had never done that boss before. I assumed they were newish to the game and gave them a ring I got from the coffer so they could tick it off in their sticker book.

Turns out, that player game me the million gold in return and I didn't notice it, which lead me to waste Kevin's and CS' time.

In the odd chance that player reads here, thank you. I didn't want anything in return, but do appreciate the gesture.

Edited because game isn't the same as gave.

Thank you. It was my fault for not paying attention, which caused you guys to waste time on something so silly. Please accept my apologies and gratitude.
