Switch for CP Points

Would it be possible to have a switch for CP Points when you reach level 50 ? Do you want to access your CP points accumulated previously or do you want to continue levelling normally ?

It's not that I don't like to have the CP points available. What I don't like it to JUMP from level 50 to whatever numbers of CP points earned by other toons.

During the afternoon of Loredas, 6 Sun’s Dawn 2e578 a big piece of Aetherius fell to Nirn. It was the first major piece of Aetherius to fall on Nirn in more than five hundred years. It scattered around the world as millions of shards. It was rapidly documented by Lady Cinnabar of Taneth in her pamphlet Aetherial Fragments that "... when three shards meet, they re-form into a silvery prism by unknown process and confer the power unlocked by the merger to a nearby being." The Order of the Black Worm, commonly known as the Worm Cult, reappeared in Tamriel shortly thereafter and some of its members are avidly searching said shards.
In the last week of First Seed 2e579, an arcane explosion occurred in the Imperial City — a night of storms, and trembling terrain. They named it the "Soulburst". That day Emperor Varen Aquilarios disappeared without a trace. His wife, Clivia Tharn, ascended to the Ruby Throne as Empress Regent under the guidance of the Necromancer Mannimarco. Ushering a time of increased instability within the Empire of Cyrodiil which finally grew into “The Three Banners War”.

Considering I've been playing for two years, have gone through all content, normal dungeons and normal trials up to Greymoor, and I'm not even CP 900 yet... no... there's a reason why you jump to whatever CP you're on. It will literally take you years to reach CP 2000. And that is even with sharing the grind between multiple characters. They'd have to drastically change how fast you accumulate CP for that to be possible.

    Interesting take on it.

I suppose when I first reached CP some years ago I might have also felt a twinge of regret that CP 1 to 160 no longer existed at all. It does appear somewhat wasteful, after all there are those level crafting materials and gear options still in the game despite very few players requiring them any more.

On the whole however, it was an immense relief to have the benefits of CP on other characters.

And it's primarily an issue of in-game display rather than character level. I consider "levels" and CP cumulative.

A level 30 character with 2000 CP (properly geared) is nearly equivalent to a level 50 CP 2000. The only quirk is it's difficult to tell by looking at the character's level whether they're a new player or a newer character.

If you don't use the CP though you can still 'feel' like a level X character.

usually what i do is i start making gear for the toon once its about lvl 48-49 (or ill just do some light activity so i dont pop 50 in a dungeon and all my gear is worthless)

i definitely do not want cp to be individual per toon, nor do i want to go through the cp10-160 grind again either

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

You don't have to apply CP to your character if you don't want to.

If you want to just use what they earned, you can apply them as they earn it and leave the rest unassigned.

Keep in mind that just because you're suddenly able to start earning CP with a given character once it hits L50, that character has already been able to access (that is, distribute) any CP earned by other L50 characters. If you don't like the idea of distributing CP on a below-L50 character, then don't. And if you prefer to start distributing CP a little at a time instead of all at once after a character hits L50, just distribute a few CP initially, then distribute another few CP whenever that character gains-- or, if you prefer, earns-- another CP level. There's no reason you need to distribute all your CP at once.

I have 3 alts, and wasn't until my last one that I figured out I could assign cp that was previously earned, in the tutorial! duh!.
For some reason I thought I had to wait till level 50, but is all good, the game would have gotten somewhat stale sooner.

**while the character couldn't earn any cp till 50, it sure helped a lot, especially the speed cps* (just because my horse moved like a sloth, didn't mean I had to also)*

I am not sure what your complaint is. It sounds like you allocated the CP from your other toon for your new toon and like having that, so I don’t think that is the problem. Is it the sudden jump and the need for new gear that is cp160?

I may be wrong but maybe OP doesn't want to be represented as a high level player. Your new baby character that just reached level 50 can be cp1500 just like that and makes other people think you're ready for everything.

I just restarted the game with a fresh account on the XBOX, and already hating the grind to 160 again to gain the best gear-level possible. Anything after 160 is just a bonus for me.

I just got a character to 16 on EU (my main server is NA) and running a random dungeon or two a day has made that super fast. Now I just need to research some more traits so I can craft gear.

I remember getting my characters to V16 and then later start accumulating CP at 400k EXP a pop and this is so much easier.

But by level 50 that character isn't "a baby" or "new" any more. People instead need to get out of the mindset that CP means anything other than the fact that someone has been actively playing the game. It's like people forget practically everything in this game gives you experience, not just combat, and someone can eventually hit max CP just doing stuff like crafting and questing. I suppose a toggle to show just Level 50/CP 160 rather than showing your current CP would work, if that's that OP is actually asking for.

Also OP, CP stands for Champion Points, so saying CP points is a bit redundant.

Example: jumping from Level 50 with 2,895,665 XP and going straight to CP 110 Warfare with 8,123,489 XP ...

I would like to have the option to level CP normally for each of my characters.

You can slot the amount of CP you wish, it's not mandatory to use all the CP available in your account.

Okay. I guess that I am not in the same mind with you guys. What I do not like is the JUMP IN EXPERIENCE POINTS.

I have known that I do not have to assign Champion points since they were switched to account wide.

Anyway it was a thought. B)

I see. I am glad I don’t have to grind those cp again.

The only thing that is inconvenient is that you need to prep your alt for that sudden jump so he/she has the cp160 gear in the inventory when the jump occurs.

There is no way to do what you want easily, OP, and judging by what is on the PTS right now, this isn't something the devs would consider adding.

One way you could gradually add CP to your secondary characters is to create a log where you write down each of the CP points they earn in each play session then assign only those points to them.

2 years in and I finally have enough CP to change my slottables without having to spend gold to reset. I couldn’t imagine grinding that much CP for all 8 of my characters.
