Is multiboxing allowed in ESO? Solved. Lock please.

So, I was doing a daily down in Grathwood and noticed 2 sorcerers, looking identically, casting the same spells and moving simultaneously. Weird thing is, the characters had no name tags at all. I am on PS5 EU.
I've seen multiboxing accounts in WoW before, but that got banned at some point. Is this allowed in ESO?

Edit: I found them dead on the floor, both with the same user name. If any ZOS guy needs it, PM me.

I am uncertain, but I don’t think multiboxing is banned, but bots are.

The fact they both were dead and not moving leads me to think those were bots.

Actively playing on more than one account is against TOS because it requires third party tools to send inputs to more than one active game window.

Keeping multiple instances of the game and alt-tabbing between them (for example to move gold, materials, share daily quests etc) is fine and not against TOS.

I don't think they were sharing a daily. They were just grinding mobs with heavy attacks. Also killing mudcrabs.
Like I wrote in my post, I am on console, where third party tools can't be used.

As long as neither are receiving automated inputs in any form, and you swivel-chair/remote control them yourself manually, it's perfectly fine.

Multiboxing is NOT allowed in The Elder Scrolls Online in any of its forms, whether software- or hardware-based. Any accounts found to be multiboxing will be considered in violation of our Terms of Service and actioned swiftly and decisively, up to the permanent deactivation of the account along with any other associated accounts. To be clear, players are welcome to have multiple accounts. However, using hardware or software to play them all at the same time is not allowed on any ESO service.

Multiboxing is the practice of playing multiple accounts simultaneously, including, but not limited to using either hardware or software to facilitate the coordination between the accounts. This violates the intended nature of the gameplay mechanics we've created for ESO.

While we can have two accounts, and have both accounts active at the same time, we have to control both separately and manually which means two characters should not be able to do the same moves exactly in tandem as is described in a legitimate manner.

However, my guess is this is likely a graphics error that displayed two of the same characters merely because it is so odd, Still, something seems odd about this and worth Zenimax taking a look at it. @ZOS_GinaBruno

i sometimes play 2 accounts at the same time, granted i use 2 separate computers and manually play both lol

it is quite challenging to play both the healer and the tank at the same time, the hardest thing ive done with that was probably vet fungal grotto 1 (yes manually playing both characters, it is a lot harder than it sounds lol)

He's on console and not PC.

On console you can have your PS4 and PS5 running at the same time. Not sure if I can log into both on ESO but I can be in both on PSN. I thought though the latest PS patch to the PS5 fixed that.

This, you can't have the same account logged in on multiple devices. You'll get an error saying "This account is already logged in" if you try, so the account names had to have been different, even if it was a tiny change like an accented letter instead of a normal one, or one having a space somewhere and the other not. Same for character names, there's no way for more than one character to have a specific name. If you try the game will tell you that character name is already taken, so there had to be some difference between the two names.

If they WERE the exact same name for both character and account, then it's possible it might have just been a graphical blip on your end. Were they doing EVERYTHING at the same time, every action mirrored? Even if consoles can somehow run cheat engines or bots, I don't think they're capable of getting around the character name limits or only being able to have one instance of your account logged in at a time.

I never said they had the same character names. I said I couldn't see them. Stood close to them, no names visible. Also, they weren't cuddled up like I've seen with other multiboxers. They did, however, move and use the same skills simultaneously.

No graphical glitch, because I found them both dead and then could target for a user name. Not a character name.

On another note: why am I almost retyping my original post to make clear what I saw? Wasn't it clear in the first post or does no one really reads?

If it's obvious that the two are moving identically and just grinding with heavy attacks, then report them. There is a good chance they are either bots or multiboxers, and both are against TOS.
