To me, the whole system feels like they tried to do it on the cheap, like it was assigned to some intern that they didn't monitor too closely, and now they are scrambling to sell a half-done project.tomofhyrule wrote: »I think I get that the point was to throw some people a bone so we can keep some record of what characters have done, but... it really did fall flat.

Look at my signature, and all will become clear.silvereyes wrote: »Oh there will be if this goes live.colossalvoids wrote: »Honestly speaking I hope there would be an add-on to get rid of that tooltip as it's hella useless and motivation breaking.

link the achievement, ok all good, log in with that character and we'll let you in.

On PTS right now, deleting the character who 'owns' the achievement would just set the 'Earned by:' to a blank space. It'll still have the date of the clear, just no name any more. There's no way to see a record of any other characters who complete at any time - it seems that data is straight up deleted from history. I don't know if addons could recover it, but it seems unlikely.

Really hyped for this personally! Considering they wanted to fully merge achievements to be account-wide, I think ZOS did an solid job of it.

Really?! Have you read the posts & other threads and tried it on the pts?
It’s far from a ‘solid job’. I personally would describe it as FUBAR…..

The earned by text doesn't show up at all on linked achievement pop ups on PTS.
silvereyes wrote: »That's part of the point of example 2, to illustrate that aggregated account-wide achievements make "Earned by" incredibly convoluted. Sometimes, none of the characters really earned it. The player did. But sometimes one character had an outsized contribution to the achievement, and yet they can end up with no credit at all while another character who contributed very little gets the credit.Example two is more convoluted than I wish to deal.
Still, the bullet list was really hard to follow - too many steps - so I created a graphic to illustrate instead.

How do people feel about the way this has been implemented?
My own opinion is that I don't like it. It shouldn't matter what order I log my characters in, the final result should always be the same. In-game, whenever you are going to make an irreversible choice, the option is highlighted in red so that the player understands that the importance. The character selection screen includes no such warnings, and even if it did, it would be nearly impossible to choose a login order that assigned credit correctly, since logging in aggregates all achievements at once.
[Yes it’s a pretty straight-forward change, something most have been asking to have for a long time.
One suggestion: Allow us to view our Account-wide stats.
- Statistic-counting achievements display our totals. Ex: If you have completed 42 of the Clockwork City dailies, your achievement will display 42/30

Yes it’s a pretty straight-forward change, something most have been asking to have for a long time. The goal was to make achievements fully account-wide and now they finally did that.
Keeping individual achievements while still having a tab for account-wide would’ve been a solid option too. In fact that’s how I would’ve preferred it. But I’m still happy for for this 🙂
