Prologue Quest Starters – Deja Vu

Yesterday after work, I logged in planning to work the skills on one of my lower-level alts. While browsing the Crown Store I noticed there where three new (free) prologue quest starters. I could see all three were available for the alt I was currently logged in with, however I decided I would instead try them out first with my primary.

When I switched over to my primary and went to purchase the first of the new prologue quests, the Crown Store showed all three as having been completed. I switch back to my alt and now the Crown Store showed all thee as available. As such I decided to go ahead and run them with my alt.

I’ve now completed two of the three and I have the strongest since I’ve been through those exact same quests before, possibly previously with my primary. There was just too much familiarity with the way the scenarios unfolded and needed to be completed. Are these prologues by chance included in previously downloaded and completed chapter upgrades? Not being available to my primary, that would be the only reason I could think as to why the primary couldn’t select them.

They're per-character, so yes each character can do them once.

Though on the public test server, they're testing out combining achievements so that might make these behave as once per account in the future, not sure.

The question was not if the prologue quests are available per character.

The question was if they prologue quests scenarios are not already tucked into other DLC chapters previously released. I'm fairly certain my primary has been through those exact same scenarios while running other DLCs in the past, prior to them being listed yesterday in the Crown Store as new prologue quests.

Prologue quests are base game quests that come out prior to a chapter or DLC and are available whether you buy the chapter/dlc or not.

Isn't it more likely that they are "new" for that alt character?

If you want to see if your main did them, you can check the achievements: https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Prologues_Achievements

What Varanis said. To add to that, you can pick up the prologue quests within the game itself by talking with certain NPCs, so there's no need to "buy" them (for free) from the Crown Store. That's probably why they looked "new" to you-- because you had picked them up within the game itself on your main character and had simply never noticed them before in the Crown Store.

They can be found in the base game zones as side quests (or directly from crown store).

Exactly. And not only that, but they can be a bit annoying in the game if you're trying to play through the content "in the correct order," since you have to learn which quest indicators to ignore. If you pick them up by mistake, you can abandon them once you see them listed under "prologue quests" in your journal-- which can be highly recommended to do, since at least one of them can interfere with the Main Quest (here's looking at you, Abnur).
