    Don't you get 19800 crowns upfront? That's $139.99 - $84.85 (crowns) = $55/year for DLC and crafting bag

    $55/year = $4.58/mo

That's only a 2 McChickens per month. To me it's worth it.

    Only you can answer that.

For me, yes. Crowns, crafting bag, extra bank, etc for $140 over a year, seems good value entertainment to me.

I preferred to pay monthly even though it was a couple dollars more/month. I don't sub anymore though, and won't again until performance improves.

Absolutely, for someone like me who plays ESO every day and spends lots of time there. ESO is my only game, save Baldur's Gate II enhanced edition that I keep on my puter as a reliable single player, no internet required nice game.

I can imagine that for someone who plays lots of games and doesn't spend all that much time in ESO, the choice could be different.

ESO is more or less unplayable without subscription.

Except using a very spartanic playstyle,e.g. not crafting gear yourself, or food or potions.
You could PVP only and buy gear from guildmates or stores from gold you got selling items you bought with alliance points.
But you would lose much of the intended gameplay.

I am a very advanced crafter and trader, and use eso+ on my main account.
I created a second account without it, to play the game in a kind of "survival-mode", but quickly realized that I need to "pamper" my second account now and then using mails from my main account. Sending gear, gold, food. And sending back materials and stuff for sale I got, and that I cannot store with the limited inventory.

I also realized after buying a house, forgemaster falls, that I just have half of the slots for furniture compared to my main account, so this purchase was more or less useless as you can't decorate a house of this size with so few slots.

I lately play often with a couple, the wife tried eso already a year ago and stopped it soon, as it was too limiting.
Her husband now convinced her to try again, and gifted her eso+, and now she love it.

So far my own impressions, in the end you must decide yourself. But I think all players I know who stayed in the game got eso+ at a certain point.

I've never really understood this question.
You just have to ask yourself: Is the enjoyment that I, personally, get out of this game worth the money I'm spending on it.
I'd argue that if you have to ask the question here, you probably already have an answer.

    Not to me.

I've never paid for eso+. I buy crowns with gold for dlc, and I buy the latest chapter each year.

I don't want to spend money on a game, so I don't. I get by with managing my inventory + bank + my own guild bank. Many people don't think it is worth saving that money

If it was 5 dollars a month (no crowns, based off of Skara's comments) then I might consider it.

    Yes

This, if you are going to play it. If you enjoy the game and do not hop around different games then it is the best price for a subscription.

If you do some crafting or the daily writs the crafting bag is very much worthwhile as the inventory management to get all the matts into the bank would take a lot of annoying time.

In no particular order answer these questions

    1) Will you play it consistently throughout the year?
    2) Do you enjoy playing?
    3) Can you afford it?
    4) Will you actually use the dlc? The craft bag?
    5) Are you able to limit yourself to a healthy amount of playing?

If the answer to all of these questions is yes, then go for it. If not, probably not.

For first time in 7 years I will not renew my sub. I don't use crowns and have stopped crafting. I am willing to vendor everything I get and will not get involved with inventory management.

I used to pvp. I would like to pvp again but it is unplayable as it is.

When it becomes worth it I might change my mind. but at present it is not worth it.

Why even ask the question? Sub for a month and decide for yourself if it is worth it to commit to a year or not. If you just want an opinion, I am close to where ShadyJane above is, I already cancelled on all my alt accounts, and am close on my main as well. The parts of the game I enjoyed no longer work/perform, so it is hard to see the return on investment.

    Definitely.

Crowns, craftbag, furnishing slots, costume dying, sales (but we could use more of these), all DLCs, and other perks all make it worth it to me. :)

Not worth it. It's better to buy crowns on sale (you get the same amount for half the price) and you get free ESO+ every quarter which allows you to dye the costumes, furnish your homes, fill your bank. Occasionally, if you just bought a house, buy a month of subscription. But more is not worth it.

Like most everyone's said, it's just going to depend on you, how often you plan to play/use it, if it fits into your budget, and how much enjoyment you get out of it. I play just about every day when my schedule permits, and I also subscribe to help support ESO itself. So in my opinion, ESO+ is worth it. Heck, I sub yearly to LOTRO to support that game and company, but haven't actually played it much in a few years.

I can spend that on a diner date with a movie in one blow, :D I'll take the $140 for a years worth of entertainment, plus crowns, crafting bag, added furnishing slots for homes...the list goes on.

Do you want the subscription benefits for 12 consecutive months? If so then it's worth it.

If I wanted to be subscribed all the time that's the option I'd choose because it works out slightly cheaper and I trust myself not to waste the crowns just because they're there and have to buy more when stuff I actually want comes along.

As it is I buy ESO+ time whenever I want it and recently worked out I've been subscribed for a total of 8 months across 7 years. I've also spent less on buying DLC and other crown store stuff than I would have on staying subscribed. So for me it's definitely not worth it. But there's no one answer which is right for everyone.

If you haven't had ESO+ before maybe buy a shorter subscription and see how you get on, because it is a lot to pay up front for something you're not sure you'll use. (Also you can't get it refunded, if you cancel ESO+ it just stops it renewing, you still get the time you already paid for and don't get any money back.) If you're not sure you'll be playing ESO continuously for 12 months buy as much time as you expect to use.

Errr, what? I've got a fully specced crafter, have 8 other characters and make almost all of my own gear. Its fine. Just buy the chapters - they were like 16.99 on sale, get an inventory management add on and you're set. Dump the stuff into the craft bag and farm any dlc sets you need when there's an eso+ trial. If you can't manage it in a week just buy the odd month. It's perfectly doable and comes with the huge attraction that you don't get DLC dungeons in your RND queue.

I myself renew it in auto with Steam.

That said, It's a matter of personal preference. For me $0.38 a day is worthwhile for the time I spend on ESO.

Depends on how invested you are on playing ESO. The annual ESO subscription works out to be the cheapest but only worth it if you'll be playing it for that long, although the upfront crowns are nice.
