PLEASE FIX x = talk to companion

All you have to do is change it to hold options with a companion targeted to talk to them, kinda like how you interact with another player.

It is bad enough that the (inter)action X button is already mapped to jump as well, making people constantly jump everywhere for no reason and locking them in an animation and wasting their time.

But X to talk to companion is such horrible horrible game design, it is at points rage quitting bad.

PLEASE fix this ASAP...

    You can change your Jump button on console by changing to Template B in settings.

    It is a really stupid way of doing it. The times I've been stuck behind tiny walls and obstacles because they absolutely will not move out of range so I can jump, and I can't unsummon them because I'm stuck in combat for no reason :# That's the main reason I stopped using them!

    Your solution was exactly what I thought of too - there aren't that many times you actually need to talk to them so it wouldn't be much of an inconvenience, especially after they're levelled. They could even make it a toggle if that made them feel better about it!

    I don't see the key assignment as the problem, so much as the way they were programmed to be basically in your face instead of a reasonable distance behind you, regardless of what you are doing.

    I mean if people want to stand 2 inches away from their companion for whatever reasons, there could be an additional option for that be they should not be so close to you all the time by default since even if you don't talk to them they are constantly in the way of other stuff you want to interact with if they are out.

    It's one big reason why I rarely have mine out anymore - it's just annoying.

    My companion is rarely in my face. I never understand how people are having this issue with companions.

    This is a big issue with console, you get stuck or need to move around to get around a obstacle and you try to jump and guess who's there. No I don't want to talk to you companion, I'm trying to get around this obstacle....ugh

    To start dialogue with a companion, we should be hitting two buttons at once or go into the options menu or something else. I end up turning off the companion half the time because its just too frustrating.

    This was brought up before the companions dropped, it was brought up after the companions dropped and here we are a year later with no change. And to boot, the traders are asking highly inflated prices for purple companion gear, for something I rarely use...I'll pass thank you.

    This is annoying as heck. It's "E" in my case. Happens alot lately when I try to loot a dead boss among 10000 other players like clockwork bosses these days...
