My Pvp experience

Ok I'm in the last week or so of my first campaign in ravenwatch and to be honest it's probably going to be my last. I'll pick up my transmutes and find something else to do. If it weren't bad enough with the unkillable templar groups and werewolves it's the juvenile drama between folk just trying to group up on the same faction. Few things stick out though as what looks to me like avoidable sore points.

For the love of sweet rolls faction lock all campaigns as this leads to a lot of the ridiculous behaviour.

Please base combat around something other than: Stun, Stun, Stun, No abilities working, Stun, Stun, Off balance (for variety) Stun, Nope nothing working...Stun, Death.
Even removing some of this nonsense is locked behind mythic items. Combat is incredibly boring because you know exactly what is going to happen (see above).
I would love to see a removal of all magic armour and weapons and base combat purely on raw stats and skill.

Defending keeps is a bit lopsided too. It's a simple case of they can hit me but I can't hit them...WITH A BOW???? Sort it out. Necro skulls can now travel around corners and over ramparts but I can't hit an enemy player 50ft away WITH A BOW???? Theirs land every time though. Just saying..bit shifty.

Ok how do DK's get the Honor guard heals or are they cheating? You know the ones...0 to hero instantly after almost killing them. Seeing it a lot recently and I'm on DK, Even been told what it was but I can't figure it out.

Can we please have the staves that fire through concrete buildings please? You know for immersion. Really loving the homing inferno staff!

Tea bagging. Simulating murder, mass murder I see is fine but a crouching animation over a simulated dead body is assault...Isn't communism just dandy :) Seriously though, Or not...Get a grip. There are actual serious things going on in the real world that need highlighting, Not this. You wanna tea bag my dead corpse...best do it quick you have 8 days ;) I will score you on technique.

Last but but not least I have come to the conclusion that pvp in this game although at times can be fun is so utterly broken that a player can take no damage, heal out of any incoming damage from multiple assailants and at the same time hit like a truck and kill everything in sight whilst taking no damage...This is just my impression after a few weeks mind. I've also noticed that a lot of these players will avoid the honor guard like the plague and do almost anything to actually avoid engaging with them but seem to be an immovable object once I try to fight them.

The unkilllable unlimited sustain posse have killed it for me, There is just no point playing.

Whinge over.

    1. Combat has to be centered around stuns and CC's though, because if stuns aren't powerful, what will happen is people will just run away in 90% of combat scenarios. I doubt you were around in about 2017 PVP, but all stamina users used old school evasion that gave dodge chance, and 70% of your attacks on a stamina user would miss. PVP would be trying to hit someone who's too fast, so CC's and snares are important to allow for you to burst someone down. It would basically be what nightblades do when they go stealth except all the time, if you hit them too hard they run away and you can't catch them. Or they run until they decide they wanna go in and burst you down, same as nightblades do now.

    2. The DK heals are so strong because their primary heal, Coagulating blood gets stronger the lower their max HP gets. Most magic classes already have really powerful burst heals, and DK heals which get stronger the lower your HP is gets really big, especially if you crit heal. My normal mag DK crit heals for almost 11k at max hp and that heals just scales up the lower my Hp would go. On most of my mag characters my crit heals can go anywhere from 11k- 16k+ heals and DK heals are no different

So no, the DK players are not cheating. Their heals are just really strong at base and get stronger the lower you get their HP. Coag scale off max magic and spell damage, most DKs just stack spell damage because it's more valuable than max mag and they can pump out power heals

    3. The thing about combat based off pure skill, thats probably never gonna happen. We had no proc in early 2021 where most proc gear was removed from cyrodiil and lots of people hated it and forum outcry got it reduced to 3 months. With the amount of complaints, chances are it will never happen again realistically

I play on the same server as DeusEJR (see them in the distance sometimes) and agree with them. It's annoying but stuns are what often lead to fights ending, including 1v1's. Unless I'm completely destroyed by a large group or a better player, it's normally a stun and then an ultimate that kills me and that I kill other players with. A lot of people have 1vX builds where speed/kiting are what keep them alive, so stunning them is often the only way to have a chance.

On my DK I stack as much spell damage as I can with one armor set (not brave enough to go full throttle) now because of another thread I started. I used to use tristat potions but now only use alliance spell drought because there's no visible difference. I never feel unbeatable or even tanky, but I get what you mean because when I fight a DK I feel like I'm going to get smoked, even knowing magplar's are the biggest danger right now.

I agree about tea bagging. I find it disrespectful and used to get annoyed but over time you'll see it's only bad players who do it. I've never had anyone tea bag me in a 1v1 and there's a bunch of people I see nightly I would be genuinely disappointed in if they did it.

Werewolves are a problem for everyone, even when DK's pop corrosive. Don't worry about it.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm guessing your build is probably too defensive. Do you mind sharing what you're running and what class you are? It feels weird but when you switch to a more offensive mindset, including what DeusEJR said about spell damage scaling, you'll find the more offensive gear isn't worse.

I only play no CP/no Proc and think class balance is horrible currently. It sounds like the OP experienced a lot of that. And I think healing at least for magplar and magdk needs to be nerfed. I've played mag sorc and stamblade and neither class has anywhere near the healing capability of those other 2 classes. There are magplars that you can barely damage and yet they hit you like a truck. Unless you are the exact same class playing the exact same way you have no chance unless you are a 10x better player than they are. This doesn't make for good PVP when some classes have a such a huge advantage. Each class should have equal access to damage and healing and it's not even close to that now. Don't believe me? Look at the tooltip damage for class skills of a stamblade in maxed out gear vs. a magplar for example. stamblade skills say they do about 3-7k damage each and other classes have skills that do way more than that and oh yeah do things like stun you for 5-seconds on top of it. Oh yeah and they heal at least twice as fast also. Totally a fair fight.

ZOS needs to stop the BS where you have to play the meta class for the current patch or don't even bother playing. It's really not that difficult to balance things out. 7k does not equal 15k whether you're talking about healing or damage. To me it seems like they do this on purpose to keep people playing because you have to constantly play to level a new toon in a new class and buy crowns because you don't want to spend a few weeks every couple months leveling the new meta toon and grinding grinding grinding. They don't want parity because it would mean less money for the company.

I don't agree with everything here - you need stuns in pvp - but they do need to cut down the sets more in Raven and maybe find a way to encourage the pro / l33t / uber crowd to play cp. It's supposed to be the newbie server for god sake. It's getting like the under 50 one when you get one of those 'golden warriors' farming brand new toons.

If you've only played PvP for a week, yes it will be super frustrating. It takes a while to learn it.

How many classes do you play in general? I've played them all extensively, in PvP and in hard pve content. The more you play the other classes, the better you'll know how to counter them.

And some of these players you talk about may have played PvP for 7 years. They understand how to build to suit their class and playstyle.

Mag DK healing is strong currently, I'll give you that. I don't play one these days, but they've been poor for so long, a few patches on top is fine by me. Some class will always be on top. Ity mag DKs turn I guess.
