How do you find purple leads for leveling alternates?

If I understand this correctly once you find the purple lead in a zone you cannot find it again on any other toon correct? I'm leveling my scrying etc on a different toon now and all I can find are green and purple leads this is taking forever! Are there other guaranteed purple leads out there like daily ones for example?

Nope, it sucks, I honestly hope they put that skillline in the crownstore soon. And I'm not fond of the crownstore really.
Or put the treasure chest passive at a much lower level...

That really does suck. It almost makes me want to quit the game to be honest. It's such a blatant disrespect for the players to put a skill out there that takes a LOT more time to level on alternates. Not to mention when you get a daily endeavor that states to dig up purple leads sigh.

It's one of those activities I noped out of pretty quickly, using addons for faster locating dig sites helped only a little bit. I got to about rank 3 excavation and rank 4 scrying before I couldn't take the boredom of it anymore. I don't know how you put up with getting it to rank 10 and doing it again alts, and I'm an altoholic, I got 18 characters all maxed out with just about everything. I just can't do this...

I just do green/Blue in Artaeum with them, I'm not sure if purple leads in big zones would be that much faster than green/blue in a small zone like Artaeum.

I've done 3 characters, currently on my 4th. I just go to Artaeum and grind green and blue leads for an hour or so whenever I'm looking for something to do(because Artaeum is so small).

I don't stay too long, so I don't get totally burnt out! As soon as I hit level 7, I move to Coldharbour and grind Crystal Anomolies(gold lead, drops easily from plants) at least they give 10 points per scry and 10 points per dig.

Also when I go shopping at Guild Traders I look for cheap Treasure Maps, the ones from the base game that can drop motif leads, that adds a bit of difference to the grind. 😃
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

You grind alts on greens and blues, and then supplement with the repeatable purple leads when they drop for you (furnishings mainly) and breathe a hefty sigh of relief when you get to level 7 and can grind the rest of the skill line farming VCAs in Coldharbour.

I've been leveling a second toon in this over the past few days. I went from level 3 to level 8 just off all the leads for weird furniture I had collected in the last few weeks since last time I went antiquing.

The trick is that once you have it maxed out on one character, they can go scry the purple and gold leads and your leveling toon can go dig them up. Even if they are too low to scry it themselves, they can dig it up and get the experience.

Maybe grinding in Artaeum is faster, but I can't do it. I tried it on my first character and got too bored to continue after digging up one blue treasure. Doing in different zones breaks up the monotony a lot.

I find purple furniture leads drop a lot. But yeah if your leads journal is empty and you really want to level up right now it's frustrating.

I have one maxxed out Scryer. Leads that I find on other characters can be dug up on that toon. Leveling another one would be waaaay too painful.

Anyway. What I did to level was literally visit every zone with a fistful of maps, do some dolmens, take down a WB if I bumped into one, run some delves, do the Public Dungeon a few times, and open as many chests as I could. Doing that would land me a lot of leads.

Then I would go to the next zone and do the same.

I didn't farm leads. As in, I didn't spend 2 weeks killing mammoths to find that skull. If something cool dropped, yay! But I find wasting a lot of time on the rare drops to be counter-productive.

    YMMV

I have leveled all 18 of my characters to have Keen Sight for Treasure Chests level 1, and most are at level 2. That's 9 in Excavation.

The only reasonable things you can do are 1) always do new leads you get on alts, I get purple leads all the time

    2) put in some time in Artaeum wen you're not doing anything else

This one employs a mix of a little Artaeum every day and ocassional bouts of using up treasure maps.

This one has several maxed in the art of diggy and many more up to the point where the glowing chests skill kicks in.

Ideally once you had maxed out one traveller you should be able to unlock a placeable npc, like the banker, who can train you once a day - like the stablemaster.

That would bring in the business to Claws University for sure!

I don't use purples in levelling Antiquities skills.

It takes like 3 .. 4 hours to get level 5 on Artaeum.
it takes like 3 more hours to get level 7 staying with the same green-blue sequence on Artaeum.

PROS: the zone itself is small and barely free from hostile mobs. So you scry, move and dig fast
    CONS: too repetitive

Alternative (normally suggested by guides makers, including Alcast) is to do green-blue-purple in all of base game zones
and you land at level 7 using this method
PROS: you get more money and it is less boring. also unlocks 100K lead (if you have Eyevea unlocked by Mages Guild line)
CONS: it takes more time as many zones are big and you normally have to kill mobs on your routes

Level 7 is enough for Mythics, so normally you can stop progressing Antiquities skills at this milestone.

Levelling above 7 is easy (if you want to dig Ultimate difficulty leads (these are furnishings and there are like dozen of these at this moment)) - you move to Coldharbour and farm resource nodes. The "Void-Crystal Anomaly" golden lead (requires level 7) drops surprisingly well there.

TL/DR; no purples. 6..7 hours with green-blue on Artaeum and you are, basically, done.

this would be the best method, as the xp is gained for the skill lines after excavation, not scrying, and since leads are account wide, that also includes if something was scryed

just have to make sure your ranking up character is good enough at digging and your all set

This is by far the best way to level scrying.

I'm an altoholic and I have guilds and psijic line on almost all of them, but antiquities is where I drew the line, ain't no way I'm levelling that up again on another character.
