I'm super interested in what people hope to see in 2022!
Please comment and share! I would love to read!
For me - I love ESO lore, Crafting, PvPing, and am currently falling in love with the housing system... so that's where I am coming from
(( 1/10/2022 Edit: )) After the recent Battlegrounds Update posted earlier today I have to move something to the top of my wish list... and that is Better Communication! This update comes out of nowhere and it a "putting our foot down" decision... "This is the last update for battlegrounds for the foreseeable future." .... WHAT?!?!? The last update?!?! are you serious?!!? This is all happening after Gina went on twitter to state how much she loves being the community manager and how she reached out over twitter asking how communication could be better...
Better communication would have been showing us the data and feedback they have discovered so far and then POLLING the community and have them vote on what they want! Or having an open discussion with popular and wholesome youtube content creators like DeltiaGaming that actually play the game and every type of content solo/grouped/pvp/pve/etc ... nearly every day to get the "Players' Opinion" from the players...
My heart sank at todays post from Gina... it feels like another step towards the inevitable death of pvp and they are not open to suggestions it seem like as "THIS IS THE LAST UPDATE FOR BATTLEGROUNDS FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE."
A better statement would have been "We are committed to provide a top notch pvp experience for our ESO fam, and we will collaborate with you to design another Testing phase to refine the pvp system!"
Nothing about the statement today implies that they want to continue to communicate with the pvp community and are just reverting back to the match making system we had previously that was pretty lack luster.
I think the test was fundamentally flawed because they included DM in the Random Queuing... Also, the DM queue test was done when Dark Convergence and Hrothgar were ruining pvp... I myself too a break during that time until Dark Convergence and Hrothgar were fixed... and most of my friend group did as well... Dark Convergence was so broken pvp wasn't fun... I know my social circle was not the only ones that barely logged in during that time...
Also... New World came out at a time the playerbase was so frustrated over these overtuned sets leading to a pretty large exodus from ESO to NW... NW turned out to be riddled with bugs and slowly returned back to ESO while others drifted off to find another game. Halo Infinite also launched and it is undeniable how beloved that series is...
There are so many reasons WHY BG population/popularity saw no significant change. If it more or less stayed the same that would mean if NW and Halo did not come out during a time where the pvp side of the game was in disarray because of these overtuned Dark Convergence and Hrothgar sets we probably would have saw a increase in battleground activity!
I feel like all the generation of unreliable data could have been avoided by COMMUNICATING with the community.
in Short - the decisions around battlegrounds made today were based off unreliable data because the test was flawed from the start. DM were not separated from Random leading to nearly every single BG being random. The test was initiated during a time where PVP was broken due to sets like Dark Convergence being overtuned leading to people not logging in to play. During this time of frustration with the state of ESO PVP, New World had came out followed by Halo Infinite. Furthermore, for some people, we log in less during the holiday season.
The data used to make the decision around battlegrounds today is not reliable - and the majority of the pvp playerbase is largely saddened by the decisions made today.
The best solution would have been to make 2 styles of queuing (solo/group DM, Solo/group Objective-based)
I sometimes like to do more "Utility PVP" and really enjoy objective-based pvp... I 100% would have queued for that around 50% of the time.
Sorry to make such a long EDIT to my post... but following a very positive day yesterday and waking up to this.... It feels like another nail in the coffin... it feels like ZoS has no idea what it's like to be one of their pvp players and therefore cannot put themselves in our shoes to discern what we love about pvp and what we wish could use improvement.... it feels like ZoS is not open to open communication and idea generation or collaboration with the playerbase to create a game they love to manage/develop and we love to play.
Today was not a Win-Win... it was a Lose-Lose...
F in chat for Battlegrounds.
1 - for ESO+ members to get a "furnishings bag" to accompany the crafting bag!
2 - New BG maps!
3 - BG queue selector that is similar to Dungeon Finder. Maybe I want to only queue for Capture the Flag... (all I get is DM... which is okay... but I do miss the other game types)
4 - Unranked and Ranked Battlegrounds with Visible MMR
5 - A seasonal "BattlePass" that would motivate me to log in everyday and make progress by doing my favorite content whether that is dungeons, trials, crafting, bgs, cyrodiil, IC, questing, etc...)
6 - A Reading Nook! - Pressing J to open up the codex isn't very immersive... and I don't want to freeze while I'm adventuring/farming to read... I would love a "Reading Station" that shows my character in a nice comfy chair next to a book shelf while I select from my book collection on what I want to read... with options on scaling the book, adjusting the text, paper color, etc... just for the ease of reading and to add immersion to when I just want to chill at my player house

7 - A free choice between a Armory or Character slot during the Holidays would be really sweet

8 - Imperial City Sewers Bosses to be more powerful than the Patrols and for Tel Var drop amount in the sewers to be increased... Sewers are pretty dead and it would be nice to give a reason for players to have some more battles down there!
9 - The PVP class balance feels SO GOOD right now!!! AWESOME JOB!!! - Magden and Magblade just need a itty bitty amount of love and caluurions needs a itty bitty nerf... plz don't be heavy handed tho! just tiny tweaks

^_^
10 - This one isn't news to anyone lol... Better Server Performance!

Primetime is basically unplayable unless you want to zerg =( I know it isn't a simple thing to fix, but I am hopeful that one day we are able to find a way to upgrade/fix server lag!
11 - (this one is probably unpopular) For the 3 Banners War to end and become the 3 Banners Alliance in the upcoming storyline... And replace Cyrodiil with a new PvP zone or Gametypes (like a battle royal) - Or at least temporarily replace cyrodiil while it gets fixed up while it gets some rest on vacation xD ---- I'm of the idea that if Cyrodiil could be fixed it would have been... I don't see PvP ever being attractive to new players with how buggy cyrodiil is and would love to see a new vision for large scale pvp be rebuilt from the ground up being cautious of repeating what caused cyrodiil to become what it has...
12 - Please bring back the Antiquarian's Alpine Gallery into the store this year!!!! I had greymore and was subbed during the time... just not logging in and I hate that I missed it when it was so easy to get :'( when things like this happen in eso it's just such a huge bummer... I feel like all member's should just get the "freebies" just because they are subscribed... like... why do I have to manually click the paintings and stuff I get for being a eso plus member? my gf missed some freebies too even though she has an annual subscription.... it makes us feel like we payed for something but never received it

13 - Maybe one of my biggest ESO desires... give us a Hard Mode for story content! Sometimes I just can't stand doing the main quest because it's just soooooooo easy.... I literally only have to use one ability to beat the main story.... I want to enjoy the story more but I just find myself so unchallenged to the point I wish I could just skip to the cutscenes and ONLY the cutscenes.
So that's my list! What is your list? I am super interested in what other people love and hope for in 2022 ESO!
In terms of new systems, story, and zones... I'm really not all that excited and don't have any wish for it all other than for the new systems not to break the balance of the game or something or add more server lag... Seems like we just repeat the same formula over and over every year.... Basically I will enjoy the new zones and story then it's basically back to the same... which is why I really hope to see Quality of Life & Server Performance improvements more than anything.
Currently in ESO my GF and I decided to start a guild and have been hard at work with our 2022 goal of learning how to become profitable traders and home decorators for when we "launch" our guild later this year!

My personal goal is to become a better PvPer too and get a few 1vX clips with my off-meta/meme builds I like to make :P
Anyways... again... What do you have on your '22 ESO wish list?
