Hey guys,
So im very new to the game, ive got the basics down checking spots like Mournhold, Elden Root, Wayrest. But I cant help but think there must be lots of good spots I havent checked.

So with that...where are some of your favorite guild trader areas into the new year?

I usually check, in order (of capital cities and then proximity to wayshines):
    - Grahtwood
    - Wayrest
    - Mournhold
    - Rawlka
    - Alinor
    - Vivec City
    - Markarth
    - Solitude
    - Rimmen
    - Leyawiin
    - Windhelm
    - Evermore
    - Clockwork City
    - Belkarth
    - The Hollow City
    - Lilmoth

If I can't find it in any of those (which is rare) then I start going zone by zone - you can see where the guild traders are, and how many there are, on your map
Praise Vivec! You were there to stop Alexandra Conele from capturing the coral heart!

I don't have any. If it's not available at a decent price in Vivec I do without, or take the time to farm it myself.... I'll sometimes stop at a trader near an outlying wayshrine just to see if I can find any real bargains - but it's actually been over a year since I picked up 20 perfect roe for 10k, and then I felt bad about it, so sent the seller another 20k (which still wasn't enough, but *shrug* - I'd just paid over a million gold for a house and was feeling the pinch a bit).

Most of the characters I craft on regularly are based in Vivec; I have a couple in Leyawiin, but the traders there seem to have higher prices than the ones in Vivec.

You don't say which platform or area but for PC-EU I would add Vivec City and Belkarth(Craglorn). 😎

On PC-NA Vivec City and Belkarth are also very popular.

I personally also check Bandaari Trading Post, Northern Elsweyr, Murkmire, Riften, Windhelm and the Hollow City when I'm looking for something because the traders are very close to the wayshrine.

I normally check the Tamriel Trade Center website to find the price and availability for the item I'm looking for, then I go to the trader that has it, no matter where that may be.

If I just need a couple of crafting mats I usually go to Rawl'kha which I consider my base town because of its conveniences.

    Pretty much that ^^^

But since the OP mentioned playing on console, I would strongly suggest going to the out of the way traders instead, it will save you a ton of gold probably. Not so much if you played on PC, since we have websites and addons to tell us where to find deals, but I am pretty sure the good deals on remote traders is still a thing on consoles.

Depends on what I am looking for. There was a guild that kept a trader in Vivec City that always seemed to have an abundance of motifs. Don't know if there is a different guild there now or if their focus shifted but something changed. Different guilds do different activities and sometimes their traders reflect that. So depending on what I want I have a few go to spots.
If other players are not waiting on me I always check the trader near a wayshrine as I travel. I sometimes buy from them even if they don't have something I am looking for just to provide a bit of support I guess. Kind of like hitting the ma and pa shops instead of the super centers.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

The first place I look is my guilds, a couple has traders but I check the others anyway.
I check the stores in the location my characters are in, usually Rimmen and Vivec City.

Mournhold is always ridiculously expensive, so it's not my first check.

But yeah Tamerial Trade Centre user if I am looking for something specific.

    My go-to's in order:

    - Grahtwood
    - Mournhold
    - Wayrest
    - Rimmen/Leyawiin (This is where I park most of my writs character's so sometimes this is first)
    - Vivec City
    - Belkarth
    - Rawlka
    - Alinor
    - Markarth

Yes, this as well. I always start at the bank. Two of my guilds are trade guilds, but two others have traders most of the time and even the 5th one is a large social guild, so it's always worth checking them first.

I'm not sure why area should matter. I rarely buy, but the few times I need something, I search via TTC search system online. I then order search results per price and go pick up at location where the cheapest one is. Is that not easier rather than relying on a specific location? Or what do I miss?

I normally check my local traders first, because they might have what I need at a discount - if it is something what is not that common at local traders (like crafting stations), I go to Mournhold or Wayrest. And if you are in a trading guild, check there first and buy from your fellow guild members, this contributes to the guild as well.

Area matters more for sellers - that is true - because it is better to offer stuff where a lot of people are - I guess that most do not use TTC (on non-professional buyer side), but go for convenience - if it is available where they are fine, even if it might not be the cheapest, it is the most easily accessible. Especially if the desired stuff doesn't cost a fortune or one does just need one or two of it - price doesn't really matter then, it is all about convenience to get to it.

Mostly because the OP plays on console, so TTC is not an option.

I’m on console too, no add-ons.

Capital cities are not just Elden Root, Wayrest, and Mournhold. They are the centers for the chapters as well. I hit Vivec City, Alinor, Rimmen, Belkarth (though lately not as good as previous years) and Leyawiin. Solitude is generally not good for what I am wanting to buy. Not sure why the vendors are so poor there, always been that way for me.

Can't speak for consoles, but on PC there are definitely towns that specialize. When I was in trade guilds, stuff that would fly off the vendor in our usual spot, will sit untouched at a different location, but stuff that normally wouldn't sell well... flew off the shelves. Location seems to matter a lot for what is being sold.

PS4 NA here and I think Solitude suffers due to the sheer amount of load screens when crafting. There seem to be two key components to making a base capital or chapter capital city alluring for buyers: traders consolidated closely and near the wayshrine and a good area to quickly rotate toons through daily crafting writs and turn-ins.

Wayrest is sorta the only exception in that Mournhold/Elden Root have more convenient crafting areas, IMO, than it does, but it's also the only remaining base game capital and, to me, seems a little less frequented than Mournhold/Elden Root. But consider the convenience of traders and crafting areas in Alinor, Rimmen, Leyawiin, and most especially Vivec. For most of them, the only inconvenience is a load screen for the bank, which is negated for players who have a banker. Vivec has no load screens at all once you zone in.

Compare that to Solitude, which was built to be the same layout as in Skyrim so it's accurate there, but you have to load screen into two different buildings with very long load screen times - twice each, once in and once out - to complete your crafting dailies. Plus load screen for the bank. It's nostalgic for Skyrim players, but fails to be as convenient in an overall MMO sense compared to the stronger capital layouts.

Belkarth benefits by still being an endgame player area to gather in chat looking for trial groups, etc.
PS5 NA. GM of The PTK's - a free trading guild (CP 500+). Also a werewolf, bites are free when they're available. PSN = DragonRacer13

Wayrest is because of the undaunted camp. Many player not interested in crafting using this town for the undaunted dailies and the traders are right between the wayshrine and the undaunted camp.

Mournhold on PS4/5 is usually the TOP spot followed closely by Elden Root...I would imagine PC is pretty much the same. Wayrest and Belkarth are sneakily good too!

Also, I always like to find some of the smaller open world locations and buy items to help support some of the donation based trader guilds.

TTC if you are on PC, but otherwise I would start with the zones that have a cluster of traders close to a wayshrine, and go until I find what I want at a price I don't mind paying.

Idk Solitude just never has traders with good furnishing plans for me. Don’t need the go through loading screen to find that out.
