Some channeled abilities have built in protection like the Templar's Rite of Passage, but many actually do not. While you can't interrupt them with a normal Bash you can do things like knock down, knock back, knock up, stun, fear and chain pull during the channel to stop them.

It's strange how some channeled skills can be interrupted by npc mechanics and pulls (like Dark Convergence), but the same abilities can't be interrupted with bash. It's very strange. Mist form is an example of this. You can be interrupted while casting mist form by something like Dark Convergence, but not by bash (at least to my knowledge). Spear Shards is another really strange example. I get interrupted out of casting Spear Shards by npc mechanics in pve all the time, but I don't think it's possible to bask someone out of Spear Shards.
It hasn't always been like this by the way. I'm not entirely sure when it began but I never used to get interrupted casting these skills, this has been a recent change.

How is Spear Shards channeled? It’s an instant cast (with an invisible very small cast time for the animation lock). Jesus Beam is a channeled ability and can be interrupted.

If it's not specifically stated it's a channeled ability, and not classified as melee, it can't be interrupted. Only ranged and stationary non-ultimate channeled abilities can be interrupted, and that leaves the amount that can to a very small number. I can think of the Templar's beam, Meditate, and Vampiric Drain off the top of my head of interruptible abilities.

Spear Shards can be interrupted. It isn't a channeled ability and shouldn't be interruptible, but it can be. That's what I'm trying to explain. It's broken right now. It was never like this and I've been pveing on my magplar for years (I'm talking pve here, boss mechs and stuff do this) It's strange how many small things are broken in this game right now. This is one of them. I have no idea why. It's a bummer no one else is talking about it. I assume that's because this is a symptom of a much larger problem and I just don't know enough about the tech to explain the actual problem, because it's clearly more than just spear shards. All I can say definitively is that spear shards can be interrupted mid cast. As in, the animation begins to happen on the floor, but stops when I'm stunned or pulled or frozen or whatever. Other skills in the templar skill line don't seem to have this problem though. Channelled Focus and Purifying Ritual for instance will go off immediately before the stun.

Unless i can find another human being to test this, its hard to confirm.
And attacking dummy bot, doing most of attacks would be cool.

I have a theory why spear shards seem interruptible. On another post someone was talking about how ground targeted AOEs have 2 global cooldowns instead of one. I changed my settings so ground targeted aoes apply with a single click instead of two, which makes it appear as if it is a skill with a single gcd, but it seems as if the game still calculates it as two. That would explain why the skill would appear to go off, but stop if I get stunned halfway through.
Still just a theory, perhaps someone who understands that 1 gcd change to skills might explain it better, but this does not seem to be working as intended.
