Is it possible to make an hybrid build?

Hi,

Is it possible to have an hybrid build that isn't weak? How should I spend my attributes points?

I'm playing a Templar lvl46, but I'm just weak and useless with max magicka at 19k and max stamina at 17k with health and 19k. I'm trying to reset my attributes, but I have no idea how to accomplish that. I love playing with gear 1 (sword, db, 2H) and gear 2 (bow) and using healing as a Templar.

I searched all weekend for morphs and all, but 90% of them (for almost all classes) are magicka. I just feel like ZOS want to lock us into Stamina based character (using the couple of stamina morphs + weapons skills) or Magicka (using almost any skills), but there is no way to have a good hybrid, which is unfortunate for people like me who love to play melee, but also support the team when needed.

Right now, I'm just getting kill in 2 secs and it take forever to kill NPC.

They'll always be suboptimal, but yes you can do it. And yes, the game wants you to max a stat, the other one is still useful, whether as support in a pinch, or as an alternate when your main stat runs out and you don't want to do a heavy attack to restore, or just for fun.

In your case it sounds like you want a stam melee dd who can heal in a pinch, so make that. Make a stam melee dd, putting all your points in stam. Then fill out your skills with healing skills. They'll be weaker heals than a dedicated healer, but still something. If you want to be able to actually switch roles by swapping skills you could look for stam healer builds.

Remember, class skills aren't the only skills. Look at weapon and guild skills too. Some of the assault line skills from PvP might also be useful.

As a Templar, you could play something like a paladin. 2H/Dual Wield + Bow will give you great DPS, and being a Templar will give you access to a lot of good heals. If you set your points to be mostly stam with a bit of mag, you'll be able to cast your skills for a decent amount of time. Then, if you want to focus more on healing overall, you can look for sets/skills that provide healing done (Things like Major/Minor Mending or flat healing bonuses). If you want to focus more on your own individual survivability, you can also look at sets that provide Major/Minor Vitality or flat healing received bonuses.

Of course, your healing will only scale with your magicka/spell damage stats, so that's something to keep in mind when choosing sets, whether you want to focus more on damage or healing. However, Templars can still get fair healing with base stats.

The good news is that, in the current stage of the game, most dungeons don't require a dedicated healer, and it's actually more effective to have a DPS that can heal themselves (Even better if they can also heal the team a bit), so once you get into group content - assuming you haven't already - you'll be in a good spot.

hm you are doing something wrong then - my characters around level 35 now have in average about 10k more stats then yours - example 28k, 32k, 33k for a stamina night blade who is using 2h and resto staff - both weapons use stamina absorption as enchantment. As a nightblade the combination of heavy armor with 2h is quite good - shadow barrier passive is based on how many heavy armor pieces you are wearing for example, your health and health regain is governed by it as well. And good food is important as well - I currently use bewitched sugar skulls - but any tri-stat food will do as well - those sugar skulls just give health regeneration in addition to those 3 stats as well.

Now we are at regeneration - it should be at least be 1200 (even that is a bit low already) - but with sugar skulls this can be upped quite a bit - then to complement health regeneration a good damage shield (skill-based) is mandatory and a skill based regeneration - like resolving vigor or rapid healing from the resto staff - or both, when things get ugly. This doesn't guarantee for you not dying - there might be situations where you are just overwhelmed, but in average you are good to go like this.

As for the skill and attribute points reset - go to the Wayrest Cathedral - left hand side near the altar are the shrines - the left one is for skills, the right one for attribute points. Bring some gold, it costs a few thousands to change these stats.

btw my night blade doesn't have high health because he would be anxious, but because health governs the effect of dark cloak, which is his damage shield skill - and shadow barrier together with heavy armor governs how long it's effect lasts.

So now you have an example for a hybrid - who can do the fighting and the healing. I have stamina absorption on the resto staff, because then it does both damage types - magic damage and physical damage about 40:60 distributed - and when I start to get out of stamina, I switch to resto staff and go for heavy attacks - regaining magicka and absorbing stamina - so both stats will fill quickly again and I can go back to 2h.

Well, with my setup, if a fight takes longer than a few seconds, this is a sign that I might be in trouble - in overland it shouldn't take longer than a couple of seconds to get rid of 3-4 normal enemies at the same time. If I get out of stamina, it should eventually think of a rapid retreat, because now regaining my stamina will take about 15-20 seconds, where I have to just care for maintaining my posture and staying alive - well, it should never take that long, if it is not a world boss or some other nasty folks - sometimes there are unpleasant surprises.

I can't check specifics right now as I'm not on my PC, but my hybrid characters typically have 2/3 of their attribute points in their 'main' attribute and 1/3 in a secondary one. Usually that's stamina and magicka, I don't have many who use health.

It does mean they'll be a bit weaker overall because some things scale off your highest attribute. But in a lot of the game it doesn't matter and I find it more fun to use a mix of skills.

If I've settled on specific skills I might tweak the values a bit - for example if I'm only using a healing skill on a character who is otherwise pure stamina I might put more points into stamina and leave just enough so they can heal whenever they need to, and one I actually switched from mag/stam to stam/mag because I found I wasn't using as many magicka skills as I expected. But 2/3 and 1/3 is my usual split.

Another thing to consider: now we've got the armoury system it's relatively easy to switch builds if you need it. I've got hybrid builds I use most of the time and then a "sensible" (but not necessarily meta or fan-site approved) build for the rare times it actually matters.

Well. just to not give a wrong impression here - my hybrid characters are min/max-er stats-wise - I have basically all attribute points in stamina - simply because stamina is of more use outside of combat as well - like I can sprint for a quite long time and moving in stealth won't drain my stamina quickly - some of my characters have full shadow dancer sets - so I am not that much slower in stealth and I can basically jog through a region being fully invisible - and when I hear the sound of "detected", I know instantly that an attack is immanent and can react to it - or just ignore it and carry on running - my armor will protect me and I have enough stamina to sprint, get out of their range, stealth again and keep jogging hidden.

That my stats are in the end pretty balanced is a matter of what enchantments I put on armor and the type of jewelry used. This way they are becoming hybrids - but seen from their stats they are min/max-er. Which is good, because if I want to be stamina focused with a different setup, I can just store that in the armory system and switch from hybrid to stamina-setup.

my argonian nb - 1h&shield + resto staff user - would agree - he is a lot of fun to play and my main excavator, because he can pretty much go wherever he wants and has a high chance to not get in trouble - gloom-glaced set from the psijic order is helping with it's auto-attack and auto-heal functionality - so he doesn't even have to care much, all the smaller mobs will just kill themselves touching him - even if he does nothing at all.

For Overland one doesn't even need special sets - my characters who have just self-crafted blue gear purple enchanted are doing just fine as well - there is no need for a certain set below level 50 - if you get one, fine, but it is not required at all.

Well, this said, we have basically 12 slots for sets - 7 armor, 3 jewelry and 2 weapon - which can be used at the same time - so it is quite possible to mix like 2-4 set pieces of different sets and create something unique with this combination - like 2 slots for higher critical change, 3 slots for pushing magicka, stamina and health, 5 for a full set and 2 for weapon and spell damage. This can be done with those pieces one comes across even - mix and match can get interesting setups for overland - where it doesn't matter if those are crap - one doesn't need them anyway, but they are fun to play around with.

Run Deadly Strikes and Treasure Hunter. On a Warden Hybrid with a Bow and a Frost Staff. Capitalise on the abundance of DoTs at your disposal while benefitting from Minor Brittle and the bonus Crit damage vs Chilled targets. A Nightblade or Necromancer would also be strong.

    Example:

Frost Staff Bar: Netch, Winter’s Revenge, Wall of Elements, Caltrops, Beast Trap and Icy Rage.

Bow Bar: Arrow Barrage, Soul Trap, Flies, Poison Injection, Acid Spray and Bow Ult.

Split your stats so that Mag and Stam are more or less even. You will need food that buffs your Max Stamina and Max Magicka.

For your Mundus I would recommend Thief. Divine pieces till you get 50% Crit Chance.

For your weapon trait Nirnhoned is actually very good for DoT damage. Infused is good for the Weapon and Spell Damage glyph.

    Monster Set: Slimecraw.

Try looking at some of Hack The Minoutaur's Hybrid builds. For PVE, I find them to be fun and able to hold their own
