Why does my critical charge fail to work?

In BG, on different toons now, my critical charge has from time to time stopped working.

This has happened to me both on Stadia and on PC. At first I thought it was an add-on, it wasn’t because disabling ads-ons AND reloading UI didn’t fix it.

The only thing that fixes it is if I sit through the match without a gap closer and then exit my game and relaunch it.

It’s very annoying because sometimes after doing this, it still doesn’t work and I have to do it again.

If it’s not an Add-On, if it’s not UI, if it’s not Stadia, if it’s not my PC, then what is it?

This has also occurred through the last 5-8 maintenances, so whatever it is it’s not really being addressed.

    Hmm. Just this morning shielded assault and leap weren’t working for me in BGs either. Maybe that old IC bug is in BGs now.

    Yup, used to happen in IC, especially during events
    Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
    Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
    Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
    Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

    Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
    House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
    Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

    It's a bug related to IC and BGs that causes certain gap closers to lose their range value entirely thus making them unusable

    IC and BG have to apply some weird debuff that makes it so you cant use any kind of gap closer, and the bug is when this debuf is removed when you drop down from safe area, it is removing the range on the skills which is what is keeping them greyed out

    (there are actually like 4 different "buffs" that handle this behavior which block different skills, one for the warden ice traps, one for warden vines where you pull yourself to target, one for general gap closer suppression, and i dont remember off hand the last one)

    most of these are to prevent cases where you could chain pull or teleport an enemy player up to the safe area (which instantly kills them) (this does NOT block the reverse case where someone on the ground uses a gap closer to get UP to you on the safe area if it is close enough to the ground, which is why it instantly kills them to protect the safe area lol)

    i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

    And sadly this 'safeguard' negates the skills when not being applied in the proscribed manner.

    No gap closer in IC is horrific for me and makes me not want to go there.
