When they release the next class, I will make a new Character and then write an epic poem, akin to Beowulf or the Iliad and the Odyssey about my character's journey.
I have wanted to write an epic poem for a while and after seeing the Community Spotlight on @TamrielDrifter 's Roleplay journal, I started to think about writing an Epic Poem based on an ESO Character's journey. I only have one character per class, and I do not want to create an additional character until they put out a new class, so, I will commit to starting my epic poem after they release the next class. ... I hope we get one soon.
I just need to figure out how I want to host it.
The character details will have to wait until I learn what the new class will be.

For my background, I am an avid poet and have written a minimum of one love poem for my wife every day since 30 June 2013, and I have been wanting to find something more to push my poetic skill to the next level, so that is why I thought about writing an epic poem.

Interesting, and a potentially fun read. The happenings during the alliance and main quests are indeed stuff that would have been the material for epics in the old days. Are you going to use some traditional epic metre, like the Stabsreim or hexametre, or going free-form? Good luck!

I really love that idea -- I've been writing poetry for ages, so I'll be excited to read it. (Especially if it's a bard class. I hope it's a bard class!)

"'Never love a wild thing, Mr. Bell,' Holly advised him. 'That was Doc's mistake. He was always lugging home wild things. [...] You can't give your heart to a wild thing: the more you do, the stronger they'll get. Until they're strong enough to run into the woods. Or fly into a tree. Then a taller tree. Then the sky. That's how you'll end up, Mr. Bell. If you let yourself love a wild thing. You'll end up looking at the sky.'" -- Truman Capote, Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I am still researching into that. I am definitely open to ideas.

Well, the Germanic epic alliterative verse is quite versatile and flexible, at least more so than the hexametre. Also, personally I like it because it gives the text a heroic, flowing rhythm. Try reading Beowulf, for instance, or the Poetic Edda for some taste. If you want rhymes and a more Latin and/or ironic feel, maybe ottava rima like in the Liberated Jerusalem?: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottava_rima

I want to start at the beginning of their adventures. And if it does take a while that is fine, it will give me a chance to finish my degree before I start this.

Beowulf is what gave me the idea of the Epic Poem in the first place. I will definitely look into that. Thank you.

Maybe I will be starting it earlier. I got the opening lines of the poem written.

What is this thing lost to dream and dust
Lost to mem'ry, feeling, and all else known
It has a hand, a foot, even has a face
This thing … lost to tides of time … is me
    … but who am I

Mostly sonnets these days, though lots of free verse as well.

I'm gonna agree with others above, in that I think alliterative verse is perfect (especially if you go with a Nord), but it can be fun to figure out how each race would write poetry, as an analog to our current forms of long-form stuff.

I keep thinking I'ma do fanfic for ESO the way I did for Skyrim (I have probably three full novels from Skyrim). But somehow the game itself is so much fun I never seem to get around to writing!

I've really enjoyed Varanis's take on her character and the Companions....

Writing stuff about your characters is fun. I've written quite a few things for various characters of mine, but they're mostly super context-heavy things prompted by stuff that's happened in RP with them.
    Character List [RP and PvE]:
Stands-Against-Death: Argonian Magplar Healer - Crafter
Krisiel: Redguard Stamsorc DPS - Literally crazy Werewolf, no like legit insane. She nuts
Kiju Veran: Khajiit Stamblade DPS - Ex-Fighters Guild Suthay who likes to punch things, nicknamed Tinykat
Niralae Elsinal: Altmer Stamsorc DPS - Young Altmer with way too much Magicka
Sarah Lacroix: Breton Magsorc DPS - Fledgling Vampire who drinks too much water
Slondor: Nord Tankblade - TESified verson of Slenderman
Marius Vastino: Imperial <insert role here> - Sarah's apathetic sire who likes to monologue
Delthor Rellenar: Dunmer Magknight DPS - Sarah's ex who's a certified psychopath
Lirawyn Calatare: Altmer Magplar Healer - Traveling performer and bard who's 101% vanilla bean
Gondryn Beldeau: Breton Tankplar - Sarah's Mages Guild mentor and certified badass old person
Gwendolyn Jenelle: Breton Magplar Healer - Friendly healer with a coffee addiction
Soliril Larethian- Altmer Magblade DPS - Blind alchemist who uses animals to see and brews plagues in his spare time
Tevril Rallenar: Dunmer Stamcro DPS - Delthor's "special" younger brother who raises small animals as friends
Celeroth Calatare: Bosmer <insert role here> - Shapeshifting Bosmer with enough sass to fill Valenwood

    PC - NA - EP - CP1000+
Avid RPer. Hit me up in-game @Ras_Lei if you're interested in getting together for some arr-pee shenanigans!

@Sylvermynx That feels kind of sad. The idea of writing something like a novel and never being able to put it out there to share with others. @ZOS_Kevin from your perspective, what kind of limits should we be aware of when thinking about publishing Elder Scrolls fan faction?

@Giraffon why do you say that?
Technically, I know where you are coming from. When I was first introduced to poetry in the 9th grade, I thought I hated it, but then a few years later I found a feeling growing in my heart that could only be expressed in poetic verse, and from there when I met my wife, and I wrote 7 the year we started to date and got married, and then the following year, the floodgates of my heart opened up as I found myself writing 537 poems. Then the year after that, was a literal torrent of inspiration where I wrote 1,266 poems. I remember writing more than thirty poems on Sunday alone. Had you told me in the ninth grade that I would gain a love of poetry, I would have died laughing. Now, at times just talking with my wife, she will comment on how she loves how poetic I sound in casual conversation. It does not always happen, but she loves it when it does.

    Hey, thanks!

The Many Misadventures of Mirri (and Varanis Arano) started out as a pretty tongue-in-cheek take on Blackwood's quests seen through the eyes of Mirri and my main character Varanis Arano. Then NaNoWriMo happened, and its turned into more of a retelling of Blackwood from Mirri's (and sometimes Varanis') perspective. I try to update it biweekly on the forums, roughly on Tuesday/Saturday.

If you are interested in sharing it with others, Archive of Our Own and FanFiction.net host a lot of Elder Scrolls fanfic. As with most fanfic, its not "published" so much as its available for free for fans to read.

I'll probably put the Many Misadventures up on Archive once its finished and I've edited the first chapters to better match the tone of the later parts.

Really!! I didn't know that - and actually I hadn't asked Bethesda about it (but I'd got a firm turn-down from another IP so I just sort of figured it was a no-no anywhere). Thanks bunches, Varanis, I really appreciate the info!

What of it did get "put out there" was on the old Beth forums - in whatever they called the "fanfic" forum at the time; way too many years back now so can't remember!
