I hoped pvp event will be in January. But I checked crown store and see that next event will be pve again. Pvp community needs more love, zos. Also Cyrodiil was very unstable lately. Please, fix it.

I'm asking why it's not in January this time. Check January crown store showcase. No Mayhem items there. Means no Mayhem in January.

Midyear Mayhem started in 2017. This is part of ESO for long time now. So I don't know what u mean. Cyrodiil unstable tho. Yes. But they'll add more campaigns as always.

Actually, MYM is the time of the year when Cryo tends to run the smoothest. They always add more campaigns and somehow boost server performance. It's what makes people so mad over the state of PvP during the rest of the year.
    Character List [RP and PvE]:
Stands-Against-Death: Argonian Magplar Healer - Crafter
Krisiel: Redguard Stamsorc DPS - Literally crazy Werewolf, no like legit insane. She nuts
Kiju Veran: Khajiit Stamblade DPS - Ex-Fighters Guild Suthay who likes to punch things, nicknamed Tinykat
Niralae Elsinal: Altmer Stamsorc DPS - Young Altmer with way too much Magicka
Sarah Lacroix: Breton Magsorc DPS - Fledgling Vampire who drinks too much water
Slondor: Nord Tankblade - TESified verson of Slenderman
Marius Vastino: Imperial <insert role here> - Sarah's apathetic sire who likes to monologue
Delthor Rellenar: Dunmer Magknight DPS - Sarah's ex who's a certified psychopath
Lirawyn Calatare: Altmer Magplar Healer - Traveling performer and bard who's 101% vanilla bean
Gondryn Beldeau: Breton Tankplar - Sarah's Mages Guild mentor and certified badass old person
Gwendolyn Jenelle: Breton Magplar Healer - Friendly healer with a coffee addiction
Soliril Larethian- Altmer Magblade DPS - Blind alchemist who uses animals to see and brews plagues in his spare time
Tevril Rallenar: Dunmer Stamcro DPS - Delthor's "special" younger brother who raises small animals as friends
Celeroth Calatare: Bosmer <insert role here> - Shapeshifting Bosmer with enough sass to fill Valenwood

    PC - NA - EP - CP1000+

    Two possibilities:

1). ZOS add more server resources (processors, memory, bandwidth, whatever) during Mayhem,
    or,
2). Lots of casuals come into PVP during Mayhem looking for event tickets or to unlock Vigor or whatever. They spend forever riding to fights because they go in a straight line and hit a river or mountain or something, not understanding mile gates or bridges or how choke points work in PVP. Then when they arrive, they do bow light attacks in random green light armor. They die in 30 seconds and spend another 5 minutes riding back. So, Cyrodiil is pop-locked during Mayhem, but there is actually less PVP going on. And when PVP does happen, it is "low APM" players who are not doing coordinated wombo combos.

Maybe a little of both? I doubt ZOS will ever share the exact details.

I don’t think they “boost server performance” during the event. Last year, Grey Host and Blackreach were as unplayable as ever. Maybe people are experiencing less lag in the added campaigns and they are assuming that the performance is good everywhere. I doubt they secretly have the ability to make PvP work well, it’s probably something related to adding fresh campaigns.

Its 2) had they simply could pay to get better performance they would do it rather than spend all the time trying to improve it.
But its more than just very bad players, its also that so many more players now do pvp that pvp guilds are unable to get groups in the primary campaigns because queue times and spread out on the overflow servers so fewer huge and long fights.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I believe the miracle of improved performance happened exacltly once during the event, and that was two years ago or so. Last year it was as bad during the event as it always is. Both times.

I don't know what servers these others that claim are running smoothly are on but I think the rest of us would like to know. As for those of us in reality, we've been stuck with some of the very worst lag imaginable during these events. Last summer was some of the worst lag I've ever seen in the game period and it never really seemed to recover even after the event ended. (and for the record I 100% agree with the post above that it is very likely that the illusion of "better servers" is simply due to less hardcore ballgroups playing at certain times).

I've since stopped playing so I don't have any skin in the game one way or the other but at this time I think if they are going to follow through on their promise of not doing anything to make game performance worse then they need to just forego this event until they can find a way to fix the game. If that means permanently then so be it. It's not going to make anyone happy. PvPers or otherwise.

Yes, in previous years they boosted performance during the event. But since the Microsoft acquisition, performance has remained the same or worse during the event. The details as to why are kept hidden from us.

In previous years, they generally added more campaigns to Cyrodiil and Imperial City for the event, which is presumably why players said that performance improved. I don't know whether the additional campaigns were added by adding more servers or just by reallocating resources among the existing servers, but the widespread assumption is that ZOS added more servers. If that's correct, it might be that shortages and delivery problems caused by the pandemic interfered with adding more servers for the event during the last year or two.

I think it is actually slightly 2, but for a different reason.

The majority of casual players will join the zerg in a campaign that is rotating keeps. So you barely end up running against enemy players where lag is going to cause a problem. You just ride with the zerg from keep to keep for AP. So it seems like better server performance. But really it is just players barely casting skills. Tons of players on screen, but less need for constant skill usage.

But, in those same campaigns, the moment you end up in a real siege, performance craters and you are more likely to crash and miss out on AP than you are to gain any. Because players are spamming skills and effects on screen constantly.

And MYM heavily promotes AP farming while avoiding major fights, so the zerg train is immensely popular. You could ride that train for 8+ hours and barely actually end up in intensive fights.

It's more likely going to be the 17th, because nothing in the store is starting the 17th, and events start on Thursdays. It would end on the 1st, in that case.
