Will DLC carry over from Steam?

I have the steam version of Elder Scrolls Online. Over the weekend, I purchased the standalone PC version (More so since it was on sale  ), just in case steam goes down for whatever reason.

The question I have is, will all DLC which I have purchased via the steam/crown store carry over into the PC version of ESO? I would assume it would, just as long as you use the same account login information.

PC, Steam, and Stadia are all the same version of the game; you just need to login on the same account for each platform. The only major difference is Steam and Stadia are auto logins bypassing the password, PC client you'll have to enter the password manually. Stadia will carry over most PC/Steam settings including custom keybinds to controller but will have fixed performance/graphic settings.

    Thanks for the reply.
Good to know that the PC/Steam/Stadia version are all the same.
The one thing I am going to have to get used to in the PC client is manually logging in again. Haven't done that for any game in a long time

DLCs are part of your in-game collections, so yeah, once you've unlocled them they'll be there for you on whatever platform you play as long as you're on the same account and same server.

In addition because you bought a second copy you've got a second account with just the base PC content or whatever you bought. Makes a very handy place to store a couple of thousand extra items.

No, it's one or the other. Either you link them to the same account, in which case you keep all your DLC and items and have two methods to login to the same account, or you create a new one in which case it's a separate account with more characters and a separate bank. A single purchase can only do one of the two.

Could I then buy ESO on Steam and link it to my non-Steam version?

Does that mean you can't log in on different accounts in the same game? I thought that people could switch between multiple accounts without needing to have that many different copies of the game installed? So couldn't you buy a non-Steam copy of the base game under a new account name, then log in with that new account to play the base game, but still be able to log in under your Steam account name to have access to it as well? I'm curious to understand how it works, since someday I might decide to buy a non-Steam copy of the game.

Yes. When you first sign in you have to choose your existing account instead of creating a new one. I think support can help you link the two if you mess up, but it's possible to do it without support.

You can do that yes. You can run all the copies you want from a single install. Even run them at the same time if your computer is powerful enough.

But each purchase can only be tied to one account. So when you purchase a non steam copy you have two options:
    1. Redeem it on the existing steam account.
Now you can log in to that account through steam or outside steam. Once you're in it will be the exact same game with all the same purchases. You can even use your steam install, so no new installation is needed. Click play on steam, it runs through steam. Click a shortcut to the exe in the folder, it prompts a login screen, no steam needed.

    2. Redeem it on a new account.
Now you have a second account you can run outside steam, with the same install. This account is completely separate from your other account. The steam account can still only log in through steam. This new account can only log in without steam.

You can do both 1 and 2 with multiple purchases if you wish, but each purchase only does one of the above. You can't unlock playing outside of steam AND get a new separate account with the same purchase.
