Since Ravenwatch is low pop can we try. . .

gstewy2ub17_ESO
My guild mates and I have been throwing around an idea and I am not sure if ZOS has ever considered it. Since Raven watch is the no proc no hammer server can we run a live test for 90 days on it. The test would be a NO Add-ons campaign? we can go try it out see if it would work and Zos can use it to test how much lag add-ons (and we all know which ones) cause. If there was a 30/60/90 day test on it there should be enough data to look at to gauge lag caused by add-ons. Just a thought and please Ravenwatch people do not roast me on this the server is averaging 1 bar across the board, and I doubt ZOS will put a new pvp server up without loosing one of the others. Try first two 30 day campaigns days no Add-ons and the last 30(90) as faction locked and see 1.) reduction of lag, 2.) interest in this server type. thanks in advance.

I would endorse this idea. Just curious to see if it would make a difference.

Couldn't you test that just by disabling your own add-ons?
They run on your PC, not the server, so they make no difference to the servers performance.

You would think that since the add-ons are on your computer, they would not affect the server performance. However, there are add-ons, that are very widely used, that ping the server multiple times per second (not going to mention them here but the populace knows which ones). So, for a "hypothetical" example, Add-on alpha-one pings the server 50 times a second. There are maybe 12 people in a group all running this add-on (the collective ping to the server is now 600 times per second) you do not believe that the server performance is going to be affected.

I'm super glad to be on console and not have Add Ons for a number of reasons

Raven is low pop on Xbox and also good performance. I only see issues in Grey Host but I detest zerg play anyway

While you are right in that an addon connects with the servers, the majority of the addon is done client-side. The only functions that an addon can ping the servers for are pre-specified and are not exclusive to a zone. In addition, every request has a rate limit. If you send requests faster than the rate limit, you get kicked for spam. Because of this, most PvP add-ons usually only update once every second or use events instead of a timed request.
Also, the addon API is not zone-specific. If they wanted to test no addons in Raven, they would have to disable addons everywhere else in the game.

Also while ya, the raven population is low right now, at least there are some good fights. Even if disabling addons were possible, it would kill the good fights in raven. I know I would for sure leave raven, and probably cyro altogether if this went through.
