How many of the new crown crates did you have to buy to get an apex tier reward (or higher)?

I know this game is a business just like any other, and it must turn a profit. However I feel that the odds of getting a high level reward (apex level or higher) are at an all time low. I understand new methods have been implemented in order to allow players to purchase rare items with seals of endeavor, but it requires quite a substantial amount to do so. Of course crowns gems can be used - but again that takes a significant number of them. There are also so many duplicate items coming out of the crates, often 2-3 of the 4 cards per crate contain a duplicate. And the number of crown gems given as a consolation in place of these duplicates is a paltry sum. The extra card inside of a crate has occurred approximately only 2 times per 15 crates on average. This definitely used to occur more in the past. After opening 60 crates in total (approx 248 cards), I have not been able to muster a single apex tier or above, and of those crates 6 items have fallen into the legendary category. I’m not exactly sure how much money the average player is expected to spend in order to try and grab a cool new mount out of a crate in the store. Please share your thoughts and cast a vote.

I hit on the space goat pretty early on (within my first 30 crates) while seeking the senche, skin and eyes. Somewhere north of 140 crates I finally got the eyes and never scored the others so I had to use gems and endeavors. I can’t say I have any issues with it as is since nothing is game breaking to go without and we know going in the odds are against you as is the case with all gambling.

I still haven't got one, so not sure on the answer. It's a gamble, and I am ok with that. I just want to be able to turn all the rewards I don't want into gems. I don't want a 16 different colour tribal tattoos, or 12 re skins of a cat.

OP suggested the odds are at an all-time low. Has Zenimax changed the odds? I think they publish them. If they changed the odds in a manner that is not favorable to the players and did not change what is published that could get them in some hot water.

That’s a great point. It’s currently advertised that there is a 2% chance of an apex reward per crate. Legendary rewards are stated as having a 14% drop rate. I have not personally seen apex rewards at that high of a rate in the 6 years since I’ve been playing but I suppose that’s just my RNG. I’m currently at 0% and 10% respectively after opening 60.

I actually bought 15 crates and got the apex star-born senche mount, then bought 15 more crates and got the exact same mount again, which the game transformed into 33 gems. I was surprised they gave so few gems for a double of an apex mount

Whenever I buy crates, which I almost always wait for a sale for, I usually get one from the 15 pack. Which kinda annoys me because most of the time I don't want them and instead want things from lower tiers. So they just collect dust and clutter my collection.

I bought 55 at once, but I dropped the Apex Senche on the 4th or 5th crate, and dropped the outfit around 20 or so. Had enough gems after to buy the skin afterwards.

I've lost motivation to buy crates. In the past I always got an apex (or at least a mount) with around 10-15 crates, now sometimes not even a single pet.

In my view, crown crates are only for the rich whales who can afford to pour thousands into a game to get a mount.
When i see one of those super rare apex mounts, especially on the first day the crates come out, i just think; Whale.

I bought 4 of the Frost Atronach crates when they came back a few weeks ago. I got the frost kagruti on the 3rd crate and it wasn’t even in an extra card. Just a regular card. Plus that’s the specific mount I wanted!

I cut myself off after that. Probably explains why my RNG for lead drops has been ass.

bought 4, got the apex wolf... but I don't even want any of those mounts never have, it's usually stuff in the lower tiers that interest me more

I posted about this awhile ago; I agree with you completely @NUZGH. Ever since endeavors were released, odds to get higher tier items seem even lower than the poor odds they already had. In two 15-packs, I have every blue item but only a couple of the purples. Including the prior season, I've received 3 total legendary cards: an outfit style, a dungeon motif, and a skin. No apexes. I guess at least I could turn the motif into gems for a horrible return rate. If only I could do the same for the 12 different tattoos/face markings.

75 celestial crates and no apex or higher.

I'm actually at 173 crates since I last saw any apex. My last apex was actually my only ever radiant - the Black Forge Iron Senche, and I do wonder if getting it killed my luck on apex mounts for good. Prior to getting the radiant I averaged one apex per 30 crates. I have logged all my own crate drops, so this is a real figure, not a made up one based on what I think I got. It's of course a really small sample size so doesn't have to mean anything, but my overall impression is that crates used to be worth it with the previous drop rate I had, and now really aren't.

(And before someone comments on me wasting money, I have never bought crowns beyond ones from ESO+ to buy crates or anything else. I buy with gold from friends, and preferably when it's ESO+ crowns they are spending instead of bought ones as well.)

I bought only enough crates for gems for the battle bra.

While I made the gems luckily, I did notice the rewards felt much unluckier than any crates I’ve tried before.

Sure I could have trained the casino code they use for the drops to not like me, but still the end “feeling” was there was less rare rewards being handed out.

The black box is evil and I dont think well ever know the insides, so better be scared of it.

I honestly don't mind buying crates. I do when they have things that interest me, and these celestial were the first in a long while that did. That being said it angers me to no end that everything is now undervalued as hell when it comes to gem trade-in amounts. I'd love to get rid of stuff I actually landed and didn't want, instead of having to keep it. It used to be a lot more liberal.
So it's just a slow squeeze death to something I enjoyed(I'm an adult, the gambling factor is annoying but no different for me than dropping 20 bucks as a casino). I have, right now, the income to spend against digital stuff and yeah, this game isn't getting it much anymore. Why buy these for low return? It's very underwhelming and "meh".

I decided to do a post christmas gamble as well. Previewed the micro antlers adornment and it suited my character more than i first glanced, so again growing the gems.

Just got one set of 4.. but was so happy got the fang lair style as well. Thats 5k crowns and you can't even get it anymore and its a midriff.

Literally every other reward was more underwhelming than any crate series. This set is odd because the items you do want are particularly good, but the items you don't want are so bad they would depress your gambling experience.

Dodged another bullet there it think. Phew. Happens when you play roulette, i know.

Oh apex mount? Can't imagine.

How has everyone’s luck been with the new sunken trove crates? I have now gone 90 crates without an apex. Has anyone been seeing good rng out of these news crates?

I bought 15 crown crates of the new sunken cove-- I got:

1. ]the nereid costume
2. an aquarium
3. a fountain
4. some pets (chicken and terrier, I believe)
5. some markings
6. a few armor pieces
7. xp scrolls (2 regular, one grand)
8. 3 mount training: 2 riding speed, 1 stamina
9. a few trash potions
10. ...and a SWEETROLL.

It was a great batch. I promptly turned the sweetroll into 400 gems--it is the ONE thing has has a great gem return value. I'll use it to buy an apex mount next season if one appeals to me. I bought the celestial apex senche with endeavors. The nereid skin of the current season is nice, but not 400 crowns gems worth-- particularly since it looks like they stripped the eyes out of it to sell them separately.

I have never gotten a radiant apex mount. I'm sad about buying the celestial senche with endeavors, because now there's no way I can have enough to get the cat-o-war mount before the season ends. It is absolutely STUNNING.

Ouch. The sweetroll is one of the rarest items in the game. It's about 1 in 1000 chance to drop.

Wow that was a great set of items from 15 crates. I think I see where my good rng went!! Congrats though that’s a good run. I bought 30 today…. Got one fountain, the keptu bear, and some of the legendary style items along with pets and body markings i could do without. I got about 120 gems between trading everything I could, and the endless duplicate items.
